You didn't discuss strategy. If you didn't like the man2 man defense, that's fine. But you said TN has no center, no bench, and no coach. You really think that's faithful and beloved treatment?

Chops,you were ripping the team,as a center,bench, and coach are all intregal parts of the team. I fail to believe that you've been a fan as long as you say you have for the simple reason that anyone who has been a fan that long refers to them as Lady Vols. Therefore I'm thinking you're only a troll trying to get a rise from other posters. In essence,don't rip the team and then deny that you're ripping the team.

We have a great team probably final four. Coach of year. Number one in wnba draft. I have season tickets will attend every game.

Looks like a great start for the Lady Vols, I love how they are playing. This will be indeed a great season.

Sit back and watch, folks.
A perfect storm continues to brew.

Note: We need to have these girls comfortable with shooting jumpers and three's...I realize Mercedes needs to have her touches, but we have to have gunners who aren't afraid to take an open shot once we get to the ranked foes and league play. . . We WILL see nothing but zone, if the opponents hear us tell our girls not to shoot.

A good shot is a made shot, but a miss isn't always a bad shot. We have to keep the perimeter defenders honest or they will start packing the paint. The only way we keep opponents from packing the paint is to shoot outside the paint.

Her off the ball defense and help side were impressive.....much improved. I even noticed her denying cutters through the lane.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, there have been teams that did well with 9 to 10 players, however, I don’t believe that they were as heavy laden with freshmen as we are. It is going to take some very good coaching and the leadership of Nard and Russell as well. Diamond’s North Carolina freshman class lead their team into the NCAA’s and were outstanding. This team has that possibility because of senior leadership. I really believe that if Russell becomes more consistent and plays aggressively, we have a chance of having an excellent year. Nard appears to have accepted the leadership role in the way she plays and leads the new players.

If all of that is the case, we need to place our heads between our legs and kiss our butts goodbye. I have reservation about the coaching, Russell’s aggressiveness and consistent play and a short bench, however, we need to play this season out and see what happens. We have the talent to be very successful.

A alot of you guys know nothing about coaching , Most teams only play 8-9 players we have those to compete we will get better it amaze me that you guys all thought we would come out guns a blazing with 17 year old girls please. we got better last game and 9 players will play this year most of the time and that is enough to win pat has said it multiple times.

I agree about the 8 or so players getting the vast majority of playing time. I do believe, at the beginning of the season, everyone needs as much playing time as possible so the coaches know who is able to contribute in different situations. Most of us have been conservative about the freshmen but I for one believe they are better than expected at this point in their career. Through repetition and playing time, they will continue to improve. We have a small but strong senior class who will, I believe, take ownership of this season and this team....just what you want from your seniors. Our post is in better shape than I thought with Cedes, KK, and Green. I was more worried about that than anything else but I believe our post game is in good hands at present. Our wings did not play as well as they did in the exhibition game but I don't know if that is an anomaly or not. The talent is certainly evident but whether then can make those outside shots consistently has yet to be proven. Being comfortable will have a lot to do with shooting so it is probably too early to pass judgement on their shooting ability. I am very encouraged with their passing. They are much better passers now than at any time in the past three years or so. That will help them a lot. I read the stat sheet and I didn't realize they had that many turnovers. Some of them were just poor decisions, a few were just forcing something that was not there, and a few more was just trying to make that ESPN highlight reel. There is potential to cut out a lot of those turnovers and they must do that as the schedule gets progressively challenging toward the end of the year. Overall, as I said before, I think they are ahead of where they have been at the start of previous seasons and they just need to improve individually and collectively. If they do, they will restore the edge they enjoyed for decades.

Tennessee played a great game tonight. This team will go a long way. So happy to see Jaime Nared and Mercedes Russell take the lead tonight. Rennia Davis, Anastasia Hayes and Evina Westbrook are the real deal. Cheridene Green is coming along nicely and will be a big plus to this team. Wichita State will be next Monday and the team will continue to improve. This team is much better then last year team. Glad all 10 players got into the game tonight they will really need them for the 3 games they play in 3 days at Cancun Challenge.

I am also trying to be more positive this year. Too much crap going on in the world right now. Life is short and I want to give a prayers up to the Mulkey family, so sad.

Agreed! Don’t care for Mulkey much but my bestfriend just lost her baby 6 days before her due date 😞 it’s gut wrenching to say the least so prayers up to Mulkey and her family !

Holly seems to be doing her best coaching this year, she has improved a lot. This team has chemistry something that has not happen in a long. They finally have a guard (2) that can play with speed. The freshman don't want to lose more then they want to win. When the game gets tight this team will respond. :gun: :machgun:
