Tennessee's very own Benedict Arnold

Yes, he helped win us a NC championship. I was a huge fan. Thanks for the memories

But noow let's fast forward to today...no longer a huge fan. Thanks for screwing us in front of the whole nation jackass.

Guy is either a moron or played us for a raise.

First thing he don't fly all the way here, under these circumstances, with your family, only to turn down the job.

Second don't say you gave your word to Kiffin (the man who screwed us) and that you didn't want to break your promise to "those" kids when anyone following you knows you walked out on Kentucky and broke your word there.

You had three options.

1) Politely decline and say you are happy there and never travel here in the first place

2) Take the job here and help us right this ship and get things going again.

3) Travel here, make up a lie as an excuse to stay there, and let the whole world know Kiffin got us again and even our guy who won the NC doesn't want to be here.

You chose option 3 and for that I say thanks for the memories Benedict Arnold.

How do any of us know what went on in their meeting? Maybe UT tried to low ball him thinking they would get a hometown discount, maybe they wouldn't give him enough years. I read they didn't bother to pick him up at the airport (don't know if that's true) but maybe it was UT that screwed this up. How do we know they didn't go through the motions to make it look like they tried while making it clear they really didn't want him so he would decline? Point is, we weren't there. He did something no other UT QB has in my lifetime, thanks, Tee.

Maybe what he said wasn't true about being loyal to his players at USC for declining but what if that was to cover for UT? Maybe he thought it would sound better than to drag the Vols through the mud so maybe we should think him, who knows.

Don't believe it was money at all. Also, don't think TN screwed it up. I think it was a family issue. JMO

The man was instrumental in winning the NC. We wouldn't have one without him. Is that good enough? Nope. Apparently, he is supposed to come running whenever we need him. Apparently, he is forever tied to the program, no matter what. Do you not hear how insane some of you sound?

What else do you feel he owes you? Some of you guys are crazy with your take, take, take attitude. Entitlement at its best. At what point is he free and clear to live his own life? Who decides that? Some chump in his living room who has some distorted view of the world?

Also, the fact that some of you assume you know what happens behind closed doors is amazing. You know the old saying about those who assume, right?

Some of you beat all I've ever seen.

This just shows how hard it is going to be for ANY coach to rebuild Tennessee. Our fan base is CRAZY!

Lol...

People here have been treated like cheap whores for so long you're starting to like it.

Stockholm Syndrome is alive and well.

Benedict Arnold? Stockholm Syndrome? You do realize we're talking about assistant coach hirings in college football, not espionage and hostage situations. You either have a very fuzzy command of the english lexicon or you you're just a ham. Either way you come off looking more petty than a teenage girl stalking her ex-boyfriend. Enjoy la la land.

Hell, If I was offered the WR coaching job from my alma mater, I would say, "When do you want me to start?" I truly believe when one goes to Cali and LA, they lose their damn mind.

Neo,
What if tee was truly interested. However he is currently making $300k....and say butch tells him that we can only pay him $250k here. Wouldn't u fly back to LA and say no thanks?

No, I would jump it like there is no tomorrow. What MOST authorities on this forum don't realize is that the cost of living in LA is OVER twice what it is here. 250k here is a raise over making 300k there. 300k in LA will buy you a 1000 square foot apartment maybe. Don't continue to make the mistake that an equal or slightly lower paying job here is a lateral move.

Gee, you folks are absolutely stupid.. Get a life, A family with kids & see what kinda of decisions you make. Sure there not always popular, but last time I glanced at my paycheck, there was no bonus for being popular!!!! thanks, Tee for the memories & even though I hate where your currently employed, FAMILY comes 1st.. Had an instructor ask me once my priorities, because he said school should come 1st. My reply, Family, work to support the family, then school. I worked 60hrs a week and held 16hrs at school. My 2cents is if recruits & coaches went by feelings & popularities, they sure as Hell wouldn't come here. Like it,Lump it, or Jump off there Asses

I have raised two kids. I have spent a CONSIDERABLE amount of time in the LA/Orange county area. I would NEVER raise kids in LA (and I don't mean lower alabama). Tee not taking this job was purely due to his wife having stars in her eyes and probably her not wanting Tee close to his baby mama here in Knoxville. I sincerely doubt that money or any other aspect of the job had anything to do with it. He test drove his alma mater with the wife and the wife didn't like it. Bottom line, he should never have come out here.

All this heat Tee's getting is crazy. The trash being talked about him as a father is way out of line, imo. If he did take the job half the fools around here would turn on him by February if he didn't flip Jalen Ramsey.

He's a young coach maybe he wants to come back to Knoxville later in life. If he comes here now and it doesn't work out he may not get another shot.

I think our fans had as much to do with the turn down as anything. As soon as his family got off the plane in Knoxville, his wife probably realized their lives wouldn't be the same if Tee took the job. Did anyone ever think the Tee chants and paparazzi fans at the airport may have deterred them from coming? They couldn't go on a date or to a kids game without being bombarded by people wanting autographs or pictures. Tee's a legend around here, at USC he's just the wide receiver coach. Maybe that's what he wants at this point in his life?

Former players have their own lives and families to consider, everything doesn't revolve around UT anymore. Some fans need to take a step back and look at the big picture.

This thread and Disco

Two things that should never have happened

This thread is useful for screening out the idiots so you can add them to your ignore list.

If you want to blame someone, blame Dooley for not hiring Tee last year. Fooley was replacing his ENTIRE staff. Tee called him and Hart over and over and no one would return his call.

for those that don't understand my Stockholm syndrome comment....this program was taken hostage by Hamilton and cheek and bunch of fans who don't mind getting our asses whipped all the time and it has been going on for so long that some have just accepted it and even begun to like the people who are screwing us over.

I mean tee chose kiffin over us....let that sink in.

What if Tee and Butch didn't get along? What if they didn't see eye to eye on things? What if Coach Jones had every intention of hiring Tee, and Tee, had every intention of taking the job, But, they just didn't feel comfortable with one another?

I don't think Tee brought attention to himself. There were a lot of media outlets reporting he was coming to K-Town. People taking pics at the airport, etc, etc..Tee never promised anybody he was coming back.

Their are alot of what if's here.....I think it shows more class from Jones and Martin not to discuss what happened.

Pat Haden will not tolerate Kiffen's shananigans much longer!! In fact, I think next year is Kiffen's last. Maybe Tee knows something that would not be worth him coming back to K-town? Their again, another what if.
