Texas A&M coming to the SEC????

A&M would likely be more competitive than you think. I don't see them being a 4-8, 5-7 team every single year.

Maybe I should add "with exception of a few middling years". I just think their record in the past 10 years or so just doesn't bode well for them.

They would likely easily compete with Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. The other three they'd probably get lucky and beat once in a while. I think they'd probably be a team with an average record around 6-6 or 7-5.

Maybe Texas A&M will simply replace Auburn in the SECW once they get the death penalty

Curious as to why you would say this.

What did slive spend so much time in college station for last year?

Slive, in last few days:

"It is my job to make sure the SEC is the premier league,” Slive said. “For me to exclude any action that would preclude that from happening would be inappropriate.”

Believe him.

I agree, even with Univ. Texas sopping up a huge amount of the state talent, Texas is a fertile recruiting state, A&M will have better access to it than many SEC schools and do very well on the field.

To address a few of you and your questions:

The fan base is pissed at the folks in Austin.

A big group wants to part ways.

Everyone recognizes the conference is doomed.

It's not just about football, and if you hadn't noticed, we'd do just fine in a lot of other sports.

We're going to move long before 10 years. I've said 3-5 before, I now think more like 2.

Today's BoR meeting will be a ***** fest about the sips, but it's not the only thing on the agenda and their not calling for a SECede vote today.

Thanks and Gig em'.

When the big 12 folds, Texas arrogance is to blame IMO. If we pick up A&M and put them in the west, GT, Clemson or FSU in the east would work IMO.

GT and Clemson will never get an invite. FSU would likely get nixed by the gators. Any addition will likely come from a state where the league doesn't a have a presence.

Are you suggesting Oklahoma or Virginia Tech? The reason I said GT because they were an original SEC member. Do you think FU has got that much pull to keep FSU out? I still think Clemson would work. If they add A&M and OU in the west could they move Auburn and Alabubba to the east?

Oklahoma, Missouri, and Va Tech seem to be the most likely candidates. NC State would be a major darkhorse.

GT was a past member, but they don't bring anything to the table anymore. They aren't even the biggest draw in their hometown.

UF couldn't unilaterally nix FSU, but AU, UGA, and Bama all have incentive to prevent a team from NW Florida from joining the league. FSU wouldn't get the needed votes.

Adding two teams to the West division would only require one team to move. It would likely be Auburn since they make the most geographic sense and most of their traditional rivals are in the East. But don't rule out Arkansas. They don't make any geographic sense, but there is no other SEC team in that state, and the league likes to divide by state rather than true geography (Vandy is further west than the barn).

All this talk about having to add two teams is a moot point in all honesty. It only takes one and its clear who Slive wants.

The issue is the divorce settlement we'll need to undergo. Both of the decision makers agree the marriage is now failed, but what to do with the children?

It only takes one to make the expansion worthwhile. However, the SEC won't ever play a season with 13 teams, so someone is going to get added along with A&M. But A&M will certainly be the prized addition.

Geographicly AU would fit in the east. So this whole move would add one more in conference game right?

Not particularly. I wanted the Big12 to stay united. Since the departure of Nebraska, the folks in Austin have made it clear of their future intentions through the selfishness they've displayed under the guise of being "all for whats best of the remaining members". I'll call BS.

We saved this sob last year by turning Slive down and if you don't believe that, I cant find a damn to give you.

If you think I'd appreciate it if my school sat around (one second longer) while some raggedy ass cow college on the forty acres dictates terms as to what's gonna happen until they decide to go Independent, you're might be the dumbest dumbass I've ever seen.

I hoped like hell this thing would survive, but its clear it wont. I say Secession now. Secession tomorrow, and secession forever. We'll whip their collective arrogant ass every Turkey Day, and that's just fine with me.

As for the kids, the Southland can have Baylor. They're about on par with each other. I don't care at all what happens to the farm kids in Kansas or Iowa. The tards in Lubbock could go West or go to Hell. Either which is fine by me. A soft spot remains for the land thieves but not so much for Okie Lite. Maybe they'll land on their feet. As for Mizzou, who knows?

Does that clear up my position for everyone now?

I think it would be awesome to have Va Tech in the SEC.

It'll never happen, though. They'd be a yearly middling squad at best, and Tech's shown that they want to play the easiest schedule possible year in and year out.

Maybe not. If each team had an extra divisional game, they could simply eliminate one of the cross-divisional games (6 and 2 instead of 5 and 3). That way teams don't play an unequal number of home and away games.

I don't like this, because they you have the option of either eliminating the yearly rivalry games between divisions, or only playing one rotating inter-division game a year. Neither one of which is an option I like.

The second would result in playing a team from the other division a little less than twice a decade.

Agree. Missouri could potentially be offered before OU. It brings a whole package of athletic programs, and much larger fan base along with Kansas City and St. Louis market. But still, some people still believe Missouri is not interested in SEC, and SEC would not take them over OU. We will see.

I thought about that too. Does that mean Alabama would have to drop Tennessee series as the result?
