Thank God for adidas

yeah, they've really shown how much they care about tradition. just look at oregon's, florida's, miami's, and lsu's new unis, among countless others.

yeah, problem with that is that it probably wouldn't work out that way.

They aren't permanent genious. They are a promotional tool to get ppl doing what we are doing. Talking about nike's new PC unis. According to yalls theory we should go back to leather helmets with no facemasks and leather pads. Bc afterall, tradition trumps innovation and new technology. No more of those darn new age gloves either!!

that's not what i said at all. i did like how you twisted my words around there though. i personally think that the new pro combat unis are very nice as far as functionality goes, but that doesn't change the fact that most of nike's designs still look like utter garbage. if there was a way for tennessee to have the pro combat unis while at the same time keeping the traditional look i would be all for it, but i'm not sure it would be that easy with nike. they're constantly coming up with stuff that doesn't need to be changed with design wise to begin with. the technology and innovation part of it is great....but permanent or not, the designs are still horrible.

I thought some of the new unis were sharp but Florida's were hilariously lame looking! The white trim on the pants looks like jock straps gone wrong!

Does anyone know if these are just for one game or are they permanent? They are all hideous.

These are the new "high tech" uniforms that Nike has come out with. I believe Florida State was the first school to wear them. . .and each school apparently has those weird patterns on the shoulders. (looks like some kind of Spiderman design!) The Seminoles unis looked awesome. . .the Gators looked aweful. . .did anyone happen to notice that on the left side of Tebow's helmet, he somehow cut down the bottom part of the "F" so it looked like chomping Gator arms!!

I don't buy anything from Nike, only Adidas. The Adidas clothing line is built to last, I have an Adidas Basketball jersey that I wear all the time that is 15 yrs old and it still is in great condition.

I like Adidas shoes and all...

... but I do hope they start trying to compete with Nike in terms of promo unis and stuff... traditionalists cry foul all you want- this stuff actually does help recruiting.

Does anyone notice that UT's numbers are alot smaller then they were in the 90's. Look at a picture of Al wilson, tee martin or peyton manning - the jersey numbers were huge. I liked that better, especially on the road becuase it made the jerseys have more orange.

Does anyone remember that Addidas is a SOCCER company that just decided to branch out into other sports? I mean for all you "traditionalists" (especially hat) that should be an immediate red flag.

UF's helmets were cool along with the jerseys...pants sucked. LSU's helmets were awesome but should have paired the new color gold with their traditional uniform along with the new helmet. UT doesn't need to change. We are in the class of Penn State, Bama, and USC.

Day games: orange jerseys...white pants w/ the two orange stripes
night games: all orange
halloween game week: black jerseys
dome games: all orange
away unforms: like it is now minus the black outline on the numbers

I have noticed the old numbers were quite a bit larger, but compared to the numbers today, the old jerseys look goofy.

I never thought about it from the orange-angle though. That's a good point.

Also, for those of you (like me) who liked the throwback jerseys from the UNLV game a few years ago, UT technically can bring those back as their away jersey since the NCAA now allows both teams to wear their home colors (UCLA-USC rule). We would just need the opposing schools to agree to it, and can't use them if another team wears orange at home.

Florida looked like a wanna-be Boise St team with their powder baby blue uni's. I was no \impressed with any of the Nike Pro Combat uni's. I can't wait until we go all black next year!

ALL BLACK UNIFORMS SUCK! Its just lame, unoriginal, and ugly. Why would we want to copy something South Carolina did, or Georgia tried to do.

Let's be our own unique self, stick with the orange/white. The black jersey's once every 4-5 years would be ok, but not all black uniforms. Please put this crap to rest.

missouri had the coolest helmet in all of football. hands down. that flat black/gloss black combo says badass any way you wanna cut it.

You must be 18 and that means, God, I'm getting old! On another note, I would like to switch to Under Armour for jerseys and apparel. They have the best looking/technologically advanced stuff out there

Jerseys were heavier back then. And they weren't as tight fitting.

UA equipment is subpar. The body armour is good but the gloves and cleats are terrible. I had to pair of gloves wear out in 2 months on me. I can usually get 3 months out of a pair of Nike gloves. And I've had Nike cleats that are good year after year. Nike is where it's at. Some of you guys are tradition rich and that's okay. But most of the younger posters on here like new jerseys and things from time to time.

Fair enough on cleats and gloves. I have not used those. i use running shoes, jogging hoodies and pants, and "thermal underware" for Titans games and those items. In all, I'd like a few UA UT apparel especially for winter.
