You misunderstand. Within the black community the skin color matters. Lighter skinned females are more prized than darker ones. Lighter skinned males are looked down upon by darker skinned males.

To be fair, according to Robin Roberts, the interview was taped two days before it aired, which was right before the story fell apart. At least that's how I read it. I have no problem with people who condemned it when first reported. Under the initial pretense, it was a horrible situation. The problem is those same people should have come forward to speak out when the sham fell apart.
