That's racist!

Hmmm 🤔

After Michelle Obama's former aide's urging, prosecutor pushed for FBI to investigate Smollett

CHICAGO – After being contacted by a former senior Obama administration official, the Chicago-area's top prosecutor last month requested that the city police turn over their investigation of an alleged attack on "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett to the FBI, according to texts and emails released by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.

Tina Tchen, who worked as former first lady Michelle Obama’s chief of staff during her time in the White House, first contacted Kim Foxx by text on Feb. 1 and said the actor's family had "concerns" about the investigation, according to the communications. Tchen, a Chicago-based attorney, is also the co-founder of the Times Up Legal Defense Fund.

At the time of the correspondence, Smollett was still considered by police to be the victim of an assault. The actor was later charged with disorderly conduct for filing a false report for allegedly staging an attack to make him look like the victim of a brutal hate crime.

“Spoke to the Superintendent Johnson,” Foxx emailed Tchen on Feb. 1, referring to the city’s top cop, Eddie Johnson. “I convinced him to Reach out to FBI to ask that they take over the investigation.”

Foxx also texted with one of Smollett’s relatives, whose name was redacted in copies of the communication released by her office.

“Spoke to the superintendent earlier, he made the ask,” Foxx wrote. “Trying to figure out logistics. I’ll keep you posted.”

The relative responded, “Omg this would be a huge victory.”

“I make no guarantees, but I’m trying,” Foxx replied back.

Foxx recused herself from the investigation before Smollett was charged. Her first deputy, Joe Magats, is overseeing the case.

But white privilege, right??

I'm so confused. When you say transgender woman, is that a woman that was a man or a man that was a woman? How can the world get so confusing in just a few short years?

Funny thing, I saw this story earlier and not one liberal has started a thread.

Whether this was "hate speech" was a legal question under South African law. It had to satisfy a particular standard and evidently it was found to not satisfy that standard. In an everyday sense though (as opposed to the legal definition) it probably does constitute hate speech, much the same way that many things are threats in everyday speech, but not "true threats" under 1st amendment law (True threat - Wikipedia).

Here's the holding of the south Africa body that was reviewing it. Seems like a reasonable determination.

“The determination of hate speech hinges on whether the addition of ‘at least for now’ to the statement that Mr Malema is ‘not calling for the slaughter of white people’ can be reasonably construed to demonstrate a clear intention to incite harm at some indeterminate time in the future.”

“Such incitement is not ‘imminent’, as per the language of section 16(2)(c) of the Constitution or foreseen at the time when the utterances are made. The statement deals with the subject matter of land dispossession and redistribution, and is not aimed at inciting harm to white people.”

All this and you can't even condemn it?

"Hate speech" in general seems to cover a broader and broader spectrum.

Seems like most sex changes are from men to women. I heard someone say that the reason there is so few sex change operations from female to male is lack of organ donors.

Where did you get that from? I said in an everyday sense it would be considered hate speech. That's condemning it.
Per lg/democrat rules you have to unequivocally denounce the hate on multiple social media platforms with the strongest vigor possible and if able, write an angry letter, ala Hans Blix, to the SA government demanding an apology.

We are getting the final touches of the new carpet being laid in our new office. The Hispanic workers putting it in are listening to Fox News on the radio.

I thought Fox was for racist white males...?

I'm so confused.

The Mexican restaurant we go to the most here only plays fox news on their tv. I've always been confused about that. I do work with a couple of Mexicans who are die hard Trump lovers.

Interesting story, one of my Mexican buddies at work had to leave work early Monday morning to go to court. He had to hire a lawyer to get his name cleared, and prove he was the real Juan*******. He told me an illegal had stolen his identify, and racked up debt and child support. He got the child support money back they had taken when he went to court last year, and he proved he was the guy in Florida, and the mom said it wasn't him when the court there had his picture. Now he's fighting debt collection that the other guy aquired. Dude came here the right way, and has only been a citizen a couple of years. He told me he completely understands why some people are for a wall, that it's not fair to us, or people like him that can just steal identities and SS numbers. Of course that stuff doesn't really happen according to some on here.
