That's racist!

Yea it was a bad question, on multiple fronts.

Should have been - why does it appear that only wealthy, Anglo countries face pressure from the global community to embrace and promote diversity?

Also ignores that Japan (not an Anglo country) was also pressured by the global community - and Japan gave them the Double Gauldens.
Ha! Gotta keep it simple on this forum.

Why are only predominately white countries told to be diverse in race?
I have been waiting for years for someone to explain why racial/sexual diversity makes us 'better'. I want to see the best person for the task at hand in the position I don't care about their sex/race...

My guess would be to counter the cultivation of cultural bias. Cultural bias could otherwise lead to less effective decisions.

This is the correct answer. Yet I have not seen this actual theory be put into practice successfully in the real world. Age diversity, now thats another ballgame. That is where I have bias in decision making get exposed...aka cant teach an old dog new tricks which leads to the squeaky wheel gets the grease replaced.

This isn’t a race thing, it’s a privilege thing. No way he’s drafted without dad’s help but good luck to the young man. Doors get opened in the real world the exact same way so hopefully he can take advantage of the opportunity.

I don’t disagree and you can’t help who your parents are. Same door could have been opened by signing a summer league deal. Being a draft pick takes that moment away from a better player who didn’t have that moment.

Fair. I don’t disagree with your viewpoint. In a perfect world it would go to the best available but we don’t live in a vacuum.

I will buy that to a very small extent if the diversity is not forced. If it is diversity for the sake of diversity you may very well (probably will) dilute the talent pool, and THAT (see Kamala Harris) leads to poor decisions. Personally, I think that it should be illegal for any job application to have any age/sex/race kind of identifier, and that all interviews should be done over the phone with a voice scrambler so that you can't determine any of the above. ESPECIALLY for government jobs. Hire the best person for the job.
