I've been following the Sox since I was nine. However, I think a lot of the casual fans started favoring them after their miraculous run in '04.

Why the Sox? If you're from the south, why not Cincinnati or Atlanta?

EDIT: Or St. Louis? When I was growing up, the west half of Tennessee rooted for the Cardinals and the east half was split between Braves and Reds fans.

Fenway's a dump. It's Orange Bowl of baseball stadiums -- lots of history, a storied venue, but objectively, a dump. Nothing like buying the most expensive tickets in basball to sit behind a pole.

Watching Ramirez gaulmph over for that routine fly ball just emphasizes how stupid the Indians' third-base coach was for not sending Kenny Lofton.

Vercingetorix, why the unabashed hatred and venom towards all things Boston?

Oh, it's certainly not all things Boston -- Boston's a great city and I've had a very good time there a few times. It's just that the three Super Bowl wins and a WS title have A) made real Boston sports fans absolutely impossible to be around (worse than Yankees or Mets fans, which I wouldn't have thought possible), and B) resulted in a revolting number of front-running bandwaggoners. Just a few years ago, I regarded the Sox as unequivocally the good guys in the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. Now, at least in my mind, they might as well be the same team.

A) Walking the bases loaded is almost always a stupid move. You basically add 50 points to the next guy's batting average, since now you HAVE to throw strikes. While they were doing it, my wife said, "Look! They're doing your favorite thing!"

B) Calling the series over is premature. Schilling is by no means invincible, and all the Rockies need is a split.
