can you say speedy? should be an interesting week......

Speedy and long; I don't know how you hold greens that fast with long irons and woods, but that is probably why I'll be watching the open on TV rather than chasing down tiger.

I read that there is a 288 yard par 3 and a 667 yard par 5. I'm not sure I can shoot a rifle that far.

the part 3 is correct, and i know there is a 600+ yard par 5, but not sure exact distance.

either way, i would agree.

Wow, I had to look that up after reading your post. USGA, GOLF - CBS SportsLine.com

No. 8, 252/288 yards, par 3: Yes, it's a par 3 - and it may play longer for the final round Sunday, according to the USGA's Jim Hyler. One of the players told Hyler, "You could have a long drive and a closest-to-the-hole contest on the same hole."

No. 12, 632/667 yards, par 5: The hole is so long, it runs nearly from the clubhouse to the Pennsylvania Turnpike - long enough to charge a toll. "It's the epitome of a par 5," said Masters champion Zach Johnson. In the 2003 U.S. Amateur, Trip Kuehne - who is in the U.S. Open field - reached in two with a 6-iron.

After watching awhile, the undulation and speed of these greens really is phenomenal. No water. No trees. No problem. Let the greens bring the field to its knees...

This is going to be a great tournament to watch.

I thought Oakmont was set up as a Par 70.
It is. But get one of these guys to tell you 70 is a fair par.....:eek:hmy:

It would actually be a 71, but one of the 5pars was pulled up to a 4...

Ringgold GA. native and Chattanooga Baylor standout, Luke List, just popped up on the leaderboard...
-1 thru 2 in his first tourny as a pro... he's almost certain to disappear again, but a good chance to give a nice guy some props....attaboy Luke...
