If the Cardinals do not win this division, something is terrible awry. With two potential 20 game winners and two potential 15 game winners, if this staff stays healthy, they should be capable of winning 95 games.

My biggest worries are the 5th starter and I am still not sold Franklin can be a consistent closer all year.

i think he makes the club. time will tell, but he may have the tools that have him showing up the other guys competing for the 5th spot. that being said, i would rather see chapman than maloney personally. leake needs some time in the minors. i don't foresee lehr or kip wells winning the spot over chapman. at least i hope wells doesn't win the 5th spot. i don't want to see him sniff the big leagues in a reds uni unless he is called up to replace an injured player. i have seen very little of chapman, but i feel confident in him being more major league ready than those four right now. we will see how he does against actual hitters in a game situation, but my pick is chapman at this point.

The only thing about Chapman making the club out of spring training is that if he is in the majors before May 15th, he will end up making roughly 15 million more dollars over the next 6 years.

I think Maloney gets the 5th starter spot and then is traded to make room for Chapman when the time is right.

i did not know about that factor when i posted yesterday. be interested to say how that plays out.

Chapman's second session against hitters was another wowser. His next test should be a Spring Training game vs. an opponent.

Chapman will make his Spring Training debut against the Royals on Monday.

Already has shown outstanding promise with his array of pitches. Next step is facing major league hitters besides his own teammates.
