Looks like his knee problems continue to persist that he will be out for the rest of Spring Training and should be available for Opening Day. The slugging first baseman thought the problem was solved when he had the fluid in his left knee drained last week; happens not to be the case as he will have arthroscopic surgery ASAP. In the event he does not make it in time, Geoff Blum will be counted on to fill in at first.

A number of items to pass along from Cards camp.

-Chris Carpenter got the ball handed to be the Opening Day starter when they play the Reds.

-Kyle McClellan's bid to become part of the rotation ended as Jamie Garcia got tapped to be the No. 5 starter. McClellan will return to the bullpen to be Ryan Franklin's setup guy.

After dealing with lower back issues throughout the Spring, Oswalt was given an injection shot that he feels okay. He will make his eighth consecutive Opening Day start.

The battle between Astros relievers Brandon Lyon and Matt Lindstrom concluded as Manager Brad Mills named Lindstrom his closer to start the season. Lindstrom had a great Spring.

Cardinals Manager Tony LaRussa figured out who his third baseman will be this season and it will be David Freese. However, it does not mean that Felipe Lopez won't see some action at the corner and spell Freese against right-handed pitchers. Lopez will serve as the utility guy.

Stuck without a defined role on the club, the Cards dealt INF Julio Lugo to the Orioles. The signing of Felipe Lopez made him look totally lost.

Bring it on with your crappy, not worthy teams rest of the Central. We have Vottomatic, Bruuuuuuuuuce, Rolester, and the most exciting collection of young arms since the Sports Illustrated Sleeveless Ball Gown Issue debuted in 1826

Until Albert "Winnie The" Pujols hits a home run off Aaron "You Got" Harang to start off the season.

-I could see why Reds announcers mentioned about concerns with Harang. Otherwise Votto was automatic in a losing cause.

-The Cubs.....................well

-Albert Pujols showed you why he is the best in baseball and why Colby Rasmus will benefit from hitting near him.

-It was good to see that Roy Oswalt is healthy despite back problems.

-Ryan Braun was the only bright spot for the Brew Crew as they were held to just three hits.

-Garrett Jones pretty much will hold the fort down until Pedro Alvarez arrives.
