It may now be safe to say the Pirates may have one of the worst pitching staffs in the major leagues.

The Brew Crew set a franchise first by exploding for ten runs in the first inning against the Nationals. On the other hand, the Nats are the third team to give up ten runs or more in a given inning this season.

Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano got bad news as he was moved from the rotation to the pen. I guess a couple of his starts, including the opener, did him in plus Lou felt Silva or Gorzelanny didn't deserved to be taken out of the rotation.

No one expected the Pirates to present a sequel of the worst pitched games in club history, but yet again it happened as they allowed 20 runs to the Brew Crew in a beatdown considered the worst in 100 + years.

Pitcher Chris Jakubauskas carted off the field after being hit in the head by a line-drive.

Made his relief debut and he gave up a run, but got a hold. The bottom line is he gave up a run.

Brew Crew sequels the Pirates for 17 runs in another romping.

Brewers closer Trevor Hoffman seems to be having a hard time protecting leads as of late that it has been mentioned if the 600 saves mark is a huge distraction to him.

SS-STARLIN CASTRO

Starlin%20Castro.jpg

This prospect had a stellar first full season down in their farm system by displaying hitting, speed and plate discipline. Ranked the 16th best prospect in Baseball America TOP 100 prospects. Garnered FSL All-Star Game MVP honors. Played in the Futures Game. Has the tools to be an all-around top notch shortstop.

His time has finally arrived and it went out with a blast. The Cubs top prospect belted his first major league homer (a three run shot) and drove in 6. He hit .376 driving in 20 in AA ball.

Was very impressive.

A much needed boost for Chi.

Looks like he is moving back to the rotation, but first Lou has decided he needs to build up his stamina via long relief. Sounds like a calmer for Z since he has been unhappy with his role being in the bullpen.

After horrendous after horrendous game blown in the ninth, Brewers closer Trevor Hoffman has been put on the sidelines as pitching coach Rick Petersen figures out what is wrong with him. In the meantime, who knows who will close for the Crew.

he might just be done. he is not exactly young. i guess i am glad it is a brewers problem. but maybe hoffman will realize this before he embarasses himself further. he had a great career and he just needs to hang it up.

Frustrated with the lack of run support,Astros ace Roy Oswalt phoned the owner that he wants to be traded; he does have a no trade clause.

just get him out of the central. the reds appear to be interested but i really don't see us shelling out the money on him. we are trying to shy away from high priced guys that make his kind of salary. apparently he wants to go to texas, st. louis, or atlanta. if st. louis gets him i will be rather upset.

Brad Penny hits a grand slam. Just wow. He drove exactly half the runs we scored in the entire Reds series, in one swing
