absurdly hard golf course. These things, depending on setup, tend to throw off some fluky looking winners.

I turned down tickets for the PGA last week. Kiawah is just a godforsaken place to get to.

For some reason, I like Kuchar.

that's a lot of track for Kuch. I like a bomber or a low baller if the wind blows.

This isn't a week to be without your chipper. I actually like Mickelson's game for the place because a lot of the green areas are like Pinehurst was for the open he lost to Stewart, but his game has been iffy of late.

I heard Stewart Cink on the radio this morning saying the same things. Those wide fairways might lend themselves to a bomber with a hot putter to making a run.

did I hear correctly that nothing is considered a bunker on this course?

Sort of. The bunkers are being played as waste bunkers and not hazards. I.e. you can ground the club in them.

Honestly, I've never understood why they don't play everything as a waste area. Being able to ground the club is overrated IMO.

I believe you can also move loose impediments, and that will help because the sand is brought in from the beach and has sea shells, etc. in it.

Honestly grounding the club doesn't really give you any information about the sand that you haven't picked up by digging in with spikes.

Has Anybidy played this course? Looks so hard.

played it about 15 years ago and it was utterly ridiculous. That said, I didn't find it as painful as Sawgrass. My times at Sawgrass were when they started believing in that nasty rough and it was just otherworldly brutal. Kiawah was playable from the rough. The fairway bunkering isn't overly daunting, because you can ground your clubs, unless you run up against the front of the bunkers.

It's not a course I look at and want to play really. Looks kind of boring.

I'm sure it's over priced too.

Ended up going with dufner . I like he is a low ball hitter and has been playing well.

Kuchar just seems like he may struggle with the length of this venue.

There are some long holes but it's not terribly long. On the longer holes there's so much trouble the big hitters will probably have to lay back. With all the rain it's gonna be who is on with the irons & can make the 10-20 ft birdie putts.

That's typically what it is. Who putts the best out of those hitting fairways and greens that week.
