The All Things Cycling Thread

When I left I was working 7 days/week with Sunday being my light day (approx 7-8 hr days). It would be nothing for me to work 3 months straight w/out a day off. I just got tired of it

Oh. I know how that goes. I'm 6 days/wk at the bike shop from March to January, then Jan-Mar I get 2 days off a week. Before this I was working 60hr weeks at a hardware store. I'm going back to school in the fall for something, which will probably mean even less free time.

I understand. Good luck

Serious case of the whiplash... couldn't turn my head until after noon.

Also, save money to buy my first custom steel road frame by Spooky Bikes or buy a Kona Ti frame made by Lynskey in Chattanooga? Hm...

Football, bike, snowboarding, bike, bike(?)

I've never had a concussion that I know of. Played very little tackle football, never snowboarded, and another part of me has borne the brunt of the rare bicycle crash.

I would say I'm pretty low risk, except for some of the roads/traffic I ride in.

I'm surprised all of my bike concussions have come from road bike. I haven't even hit my head on my mountain bike yet.

I won an award for "Most Epic!" What a fun day. Crashed a bunch. Muddy and slick and wet and snowy. Won it because I raced in just a T-shirt.

I didn't hit my head, but it seems as though in my first crash I did some damage to my right knee. It's swollen and I can't put pressure on it. Such is life.

Well, I pulled the ole bike down from the rack yesterday and put 20 miles in. First time in 3 years its been off the rack. Overall, was not too bad of a first ride back as i am not really out of shape, just out of cycling shape. Hopeing to get a lot of miles in this summer...

Not really.

Is there still snow in tundra land?

It's melting fast.

Here are some photos from yesterday.

I am #4 in this photo.

I can walk fine today. Knee doesn't hurt much. Still slightly swollen.

Crashed CX bike in the middle of an intersection. Ice again. Full grocery load. Maybe lesson learned. Need to invest in studded tires for it.

I have used them several times, nice guys. I need to get to get my road bike 'Fitted' because of some numbness issues. I think i am going to go to Kelly now that he has his own shop and not associated with Ferres anymore.

Are there any certified bike fitters in Knoxville? Sorting out numbness issues can be difficult.

Yeah, like I said, I haven't been a regular enough customer at any shop to get to know the staff personally.

I rode about 1500 miles over the summer of 2009, but we had our son that winter and my bike has been on the rack ever since. I put 20 miles in last weekend and remembered that i was having those issues back in 09' I just never went and got fitted, cause i was to cheap. But i think i am just going to go ahead and get it done early this year so i dont have to worry about distance rides anymore. I have heard good things about Kelly at Echelon Bicycles, not sure if he is certified or not.
