Well, this blows. The new chain was skipping. The cassette was worn after only 8000 miles?

I don't have a new one so I put the old chain back on.

Stupid bike crap. It never ends.

Is there much difference between a 5700 cassette and a 6700 cassette, other than weight?

Cassette was worn from your stretched chain. A cassette can last a really long time if you replace your chains on time.

A 5700 cassette will work fine in place of a 6700. Only difference is weight.

Auto parts last tens of thousands of miles. But a metal chain on my sub-200 pound vehicle won't last 8000 miles.

Stupid bike crap.

Maybe your legs shouldn't be so powerful?

It's a problem.

I've gotten over 15,000 miles on prior cassettes. But those were 6600. Maybe 6700 is defective.

Got passed by a brine truck this afternoon. Another polar vortex is the last thing I need.

5 miles on ss mtb. So sad

In the same boat.

Thursday is my day off. High of 0. Last week it was raining and cold but I still got in 2 hours on my cx bike.

Tonight will be less than 5 miles on my ss mtb, just commuting to get groceries.

Didn't crack 40F yesterday. Only 43F today. My life of hardship never ends. So sad.

Shopping day at Ribble

cassette
handlebar tape
cleats
bottom bracket
tyre

Oddly, I didn't see a charge for shipping.

Hopefully that's all the bike crap I need for a while.

I have to go run a bunch of errands today. It's not breaking 10° and windchill is currently -9°. This is BS. This time last year I was preppfir a trip to Colorado.

Got twelve miles in on the mountain bike. Man, it was fun. First time all winter the trails have been dry. Lots more sliding, but able to carry SOOOOOOO much more speed.

28 miles yesterday. It was in the upper 60s, but windy, which took some of the enjoyment out of it.

Today, sleet and snow flurries. No enjoyment, or riding, for that matter.

It'll help by adding floatation to the tire. What size tires are you running and what pressure?

29X2.1. I dropped the pressure some from what it was when it came out of the shop, but I don't know the exact pressure. It's not a bad slip, in fact it's fun honestly. The bike just sort of buries into the sand some and gets sloshy.

Sand is tough, but will teach you handling skills quicker.

29 miles this afternoon on the cyclocross bike. Sloppy conditions, perfect bike selection. Both derailleurs packed with ice and slush and froze in place. Toes were frozen solid. Fun ride.
