The All things Lane Kiffin Car Accident Thread (merged)

Also, like I said earlier, the reason Dooley was there for 3 years is b/c he didn't have a "USC offer" on the table. I'm sure if UT had offered him 14 months into his tenure at LA Tech, he would've turned it down, right?

This is a ridiculous argument. You can't hold a guy responsible for sins that he didn't commit.

I dont know, I'm not Miss Cleo. You seem to be, so you tell me.

I laughed a little bit at that.

But, if you don't know the answer to what Dooley would've done, then I can't help you. And, listen, there's NOTHING wrong with what Dooley did. That's my point in this whole freaking deal.

Well, therein lies the problem. I wouldn't consider it a "sin" or a bad thing to do regardless. Like I said, Dooley left LA Tech for a better job, and Kiffin left UT for a better job. And blaming either is asinine.

I don't know. Leaving a program 1 year in to a contract is pretty scummy, and everyone seems to realize this besides you. Did you read the Peter King article?
I know.

No, and I couldn't give 2 craps what Peter King has to say. But, I could make the argument as well that Kiffin was leaving for his dream job, while Dooley wasn't. Who knows when the USC job will open up again? But, I highly doubt Dooley would've cared if it was UT or LSU or UGA that opened up for him to take the job. Just another reason why it's understandable for me for Kiffin to leave so early from UT. Just a thought.

You think USC is Lane Kiffins dream job? LOL, wonder what it will be next year.

Dooley left La Tech for a better job. Kiffin left Tennessee for a lateral move. Yeah, USC is an easier job, but no way is it a better job than Tennessee. USC and Tennessee are both destination jobs, and no one should leave a destination job one year into a contract.

Yes, I do think USC is Lane Kiffin's dream job as do most people. The only way I see him leaving is if some NFL team comes calling in a few years. But, that would be more to satisfy his ego than b/c it's a dream deal for him. Same for Pete Carroll. To me, they are both "college coaches." They excel at recruiting, and you just can't do it like that in the NFL.

It's not a lateral move. It's just not. I know that UT fans don't like to admit it, but there are better programs out there. There's not many, but there are a few. USC is one of them. It is 10x easier to win out there due to recruiting and scheduling. Consequently, it's much more likely that you'll win BCS bowls and national championships at USC. I don't know how you measure a "better job" but being at home and having my dream job while also being able to excel by winning constantly would be how I would measure it.

Basically what you're saying is if you disregard everything surrounding the situation, i.e. leaving after one year, calling recruits on the way out(and lying about it), and basically ****ting on the Univeristy of Tennessee on his way out, Lane Kiffin did nothing wrong.

Tennessee is a traditional SEC powerhouse with much better resources and facilities than USC. USC is basically a Miami of the west coast in the fact that it is easy to recruit kids since they like to play there, but no way is it a better program. Not even close.

A caller on Tony Basilio said that a local sports radio personality could be involved in this. He said he didn’t want to drag “her” through the mud and "she" did a good job this season. Heather Harrington is the only person who fits that description. Anyone heard anything about Heather’s involvement in this?

Just got off the phone with TMZ and I gave them all the info I know and gave him the contact info for the higher source that knows first hand. These guys sound legit and they sounded like they wanted to bring Kiffin and Co down

Are you being serious?

I hope you're telling the truth. I don't know what do believe from all this stuff I've been hearing the past week, but I would love to see him go down.

No, what I'm saying is that the actual act of him taking another job (dream job) should not be something to hate the guy about. Again, who knows when that job opens up again? Ever thought about the idea that maybe he just wasn't that happy here? So, no I don't blame him at all for leaving after one year.

I do blame him (especially Orgeron) if they were actually trying to recruit UT commitments. No one knows exactly what was said for sure. If that did happen that way, then yeah I have a problem with that. But, it seems to me that most people are upset about the timing of it and just the fact that he left in general. And, so no, I don't have an issue with that part of the whole deal. But, considering a lot of the kids that Kiffin and the bunch have brought in here are guys that wanted to play for a Monte Kiffin for example, I can understand why they might've been asking Orgeron what they should do.

They were so whoever said it was correct. Im telling the truth. Idk why I would lie about this. I hate Kiffin as much as everyone else and I would love to see him go down. I sent them a tip and now its turning into this..
