The Andrew Wiggins Sweepstakes

What 7th grader have you been watching?

Haha touché. CBS had an article on Woods with a link to some Future 150 rankings, and he was like 5th in his own class. There was also some dude that's apparently 7 feet tall as a high school freshman, but that's beside the point.

Harry Giles is really good too.

I think he might be a year older than Woods though. That's another one who would seem to be a UNC lean, but with the differences in how Cal and Roy recruit, you never know with that bunch in Lexington. If what I've heard about Woods being a Heel fan is true, and we let him go to Kentucky (like Wall), then I'll be pretty pissed. That's the benefit of Cal's system under the one year rule though. He replaces his point every year (thus winning him recruits like Woods who Roy might try to split minutes with for a sophomore point), while Roy recruits 2 to 3 year points. Just a difference in philosophy, but one that could cost us a player like Woods, who, if you surround with a few competent pieces, might could lead you to a title in one year. I'm not jumping ahead of myself though; we'll see how his high school career plays out first.

Those really tall kids always get a lot of buzz early, but remaining in the elite often proves more of a task.

The analysts were right; Oden just couldn't stay healthy.

Very true. I got ahead of myself there. I should have said that Hansbrough had the best game by far that one particular matchup head-to-head, but certainly Oden did have the most potential. I knew, however, after his injuries his one year at Ohio State that he was a pass (big man syndrome unfortunately). Portland did not.

Billy Clyde made waves by signing 8th graders who never made it to UK, the most successful one making it to WKU, while the rest ended up in obscure spots like Campbellsville or not playing at all.

Thank God he's gone.

I like how everyone predicts Wiggins to the other school. UK fans seem to think FSU or UNC. UNC fans think FSU or UK, etc etc lulz.

Giles and Woods are both in 2016

That's a fearsome combination then. I don't know if they're on the same AAU Karolina (or something like that), but I've heard that one of their AAU teams could basically end up being a great starting lineup for a university one day, let alone AAU. And their ours for the taking hopefully; just got to recruit them.

Inside Carolina board has been abuzz since this afternoon about a possible commitment from Wiggins sometime tomorrow. Probably just more internet fodder; I'll believe it when I see it.

Well, as with pretty much every other rumor in his recruitment, looks like this was just another big steamy pile of crap. I figured it was, but I was just passing along what I was hearing.
