The Association Football Thread

The Emirates has brought Arsenal a lot more money than they were making when they played at Highbury. However, it hasn't led to more titles because the Manchester teams are still significantly outspending them.

More money coming in but also more money going out because they are still paying for the stadium. They won't borrow the money to pay it off. Long term it is the right move but in the short term it sucks. And Chelsea, you can't forget Chelsea buying all those titles. They cost more Arsenal more silverware than City has.

Brazil is laying the wood to New Zealand, still a blast to watch.

Team GB and Uruguay is half an hour out, should be the best match of the tournament so far.

Cazorla to Arsenal finally looks like it is going to happen. I'm really liking the way they look right now and still might get Sahin on loan.

Arsenal had a pretty good summer signings wise. Still think RB is a little worry since Sagna is coming off two broken legs now, and they have no one behind him.

If he goes down again, I would imagine that Koscielny would move over. The good thing about Sagna is that he doesn't really get nagging injuries.

One of the Honduras players getting sent off at 34'. Should have happened at 25' at most. This thing is a blood bath. I think it was Marcelo who literally got scissor kicked by one of the Hondurans. This will finish ten on ten. Five bookings in half an hour and change.

Given the way honduras has been challenging and them being at ten men, I wouldn't be surprised to see brazil pour two or three more in if they've finally got things flowing.

Don't know who to pull for. Not a huge fan of either, but I honestly cannot see myself ever wanting Mexico to win.

My brother referred me to this TV miniseries on Bravo (the British channel), "The Real Football Factories" with Danny Dyer

Two six part miniseries, on English and the other international about hooligan culture. Outstanding stuff.

May be old news to most people in here but whenever anybody mentions hooligan culture I always have to interject with "if you haven't read this book, you should"
