That volley from outside the box was absolutely sick

Dunno what avb said at half but it wasn't right.

Ba and cisse are really, really good

Van der vaart coming on for gylfi

I honestly can't believe as high profile a club as Spurs hired him. Pretty much the second he was let go by Chelsea they seemed to magically transform from a team that couldn't beat anybody into a team that won the Champions League.

Chelsea always had the talent to get it done, he may not have been right for them.

But on winning the CL, I hate to call it fluky but that's about as fluky as winning a title gets. The one time out of a hundred they make it past Barca like that, then both them and FCBM having to practically dip into reserve teams just to field a squad...

Flukiest run through a tournament I've seen in a while. They were arguably outplayed by Benfica, and then clearly outplayed by Barcelona and Chelsea.

Not from the penalty, I hate to say it but Friedel has looked dodgy. I wonder if he will still be the mighty American come mid-season

Heartbreak already... That's how Newcastle wins games at home, though.

AVB needs to tone down the long ball, and start Van Der Vaart, especially in matches where the ref won't play advantage.

Honestly, I have no idea... Gylfi seems to have more pace about him, but that's about all I can think of. But it seems like he's not broken in with the squad yet, and trying to accomplish that opening the season in Newcastle is not the time, especially when you've got a ref that will set up a wealth of set pieces, being as good as Van der Vaart is on that front.

Playing a formation that demands creativity (4-2-3-1) and just chucking it didn't help, either. I'd say switching back to a 4-4-2 and just letting Bale, Defoe and Lennon run, but dos Santos is literally the only other striker on the whole roster. The yids may be screwed if they don't pick up the tab for Adebayor.

He wasn't right for them because he refused to play the first teamers half of the time. The end of the tournament might have been kind of fluky for Chelsea, but the game against Napoli where they overturned a 1-3 deficit after the first leg was legit. Oddly enough, it happened to be just a couple days after AVB was fired.

Casillas just got KTFO by his own defender. Pepe is hurt as well, and that allowed Valencia to score a goal to nod it up.

Couldn't be anymore pleased with the start of the Tito Villanova era. And we already have a 2 point lead on Real Madrid. Good opening weekend.
