The Association Football Thread

I know matches at this level aren't televised here in the states, but did anybody happen to catch the highlights of this semifinal playoff game for EPL promotion? Leicester had the game all but in the bag by earning a PK over 5 minutes into stoppage time. The Watford goalie made an incredible double save and the Watford scored on the break with what turned out to be the final kick of the game.

Sorry for spoiling it with the description for those who hadn't yet seen it, but I'd be willing to bet the video will be taken down due to copyright complaints, so the explanation is there if the link ends up eventually not working.

PSG have rejected an advance from Real Madrid for their manager. Is Mourinho to Chelsea official/will it be official soon?

I think the handwriting has been on the wall for some time. They'll probably make it official the day after Madrid's last game.

big win for Arsenal today, back in front of the Spurs.

SN: wish they showed more games in the US besides extra packages we have to buy (like fox sports soccer and the like)

This should change once NBC gets the rights to the EPL here in a couple years. It sounds like they're going to try and build a decent brand around it on NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus) much like they have with the NHL.

That will be great. I wish there were more games shown sooner but I guess I can stream games til then.

Do you know if they will also have Champions League games along with EPL? I love the matchups of the best from their respective leagues (especially since I don't get to see many German/Italian/Spanish games)

I stand corrected. NBC had the rights to the EPL for the upcoming 2013-14 season, and their plans for coverage are FAR better than even I expected. This is great news for me, as the EPL is really the only soccer I enjoy watching aside from CL. Here's the link...

As to your second question, Fox Sports still has the rights to the Champions League through 2014-15.

Really can't get too excited about him. Just haven't seen him play more like five games or so. Never was really too impressed. We will definitely over pay for him though.

Where's the report? I know it's likely this point as the club has already sunk €10mil into his transfer fee. I'm somewhat with you, but with David Villa and Alexis Sánchez likely on the way out, Barça will need more than just Messi and Cristian Tello for the center forward spot, and I just don't see many great other options out there. Most of the summer funds should be spent on center halves.

Reports are everywhere that he is likely to be sold and that Barcelona is the only place he wants to go.

Villa will be sold. Alexis will stay. I feel pretty good about that. Alexis has been a very good player for us this season.

The need for a cf is still there, even if for insurance. I'm not sure who's out there that would do better than neymar.

Plus a year in Spain and cl would serve him well ahead of the World Cup.

We aren't signing Neymar for CF. He will be on the wing. I think Alexis can play CF fine if Messi is out
