At least Bale put on one final show for the London fans. It's going to be a shame to see him go and with it, likely too will go Spurs time as a contender for a CL spot each year. They kind of got screwed last year with Chelsea coming from nowhere to take their spot by winning the whole thing, but this year they just choked over the final couple months.

Very much so, but they had a good run for a couple years. Sucks they never qualified for CL. I'd much rather see them than Arsenal.

I wouldn't say that. If bale goes, they'll have a mint to spend in the summer, plus they'll want to keep contending with the new white hart lane just around the corner.

AVB has been cash IMO. Vertonghen has been a stud in the back, gylfi, Dempsey, Dembélé, Parker, huddlestone et al make a great middle, Lennon is solid on the right. Assou ekotto and Ade need to go, couple of strikers need to come in.

Chelsea, Man U and City will still have a death grip on the top three, but arsenal will still be inconsistent until they are willing to spend money. Spurs aren't that bad off without bale going forward as long as they make wise signings.

Completely disagree. He saved Tottenham numerous times this year with brilliant, timely goals. Without Bale, I don't think Tottenham is top six this season.

Maybe you misread my stressing how he's going to leave about £50-60mil in his place; if that's wisely reinvested, I don't think it will be that bad going forward.

Your premise is entirely flawed, but to play along, Lloris, Vertonghen, Lennon and a healthy Defoe are of that quality. I'd also make a case for Walker.

Man U, City and Chelski will occupy the top 3 again next year, and there's a massive drop off in quality after the top 5, so the real question is can Spurs outdo the gooners? Yes, Bale may be on the way out, but Spurs may well outspend their rivals by seven figures this summer.

I get where you're coming from, but saying Spurs won't be competing for top four again next year is a big effin' leap.

Arsenal is starting to stabilize now. They have lost big time players in the summer the last three years. They are finally going to retain much of the squad and add some good additions most likely. While Spurs likely lose their best player.

yup, that's kind of the way I see it. Retaining some good talent, but need to add a few pieces to get back to the top. Gunners will be fine

Europa League winner will now be getting an automatic seed in the CL group stage, starting in 2015-16.

Good step, and should make the competition a bit more exciting (I thought it was actually pretty good this year), but they should still do away with it altogether.

Does that screw over the last CL spots in the leagues? For instance, if Tottenham won the Europa League this year under these rules, would Arsenal still get a CL spot? Not that it matters a great deal, since it will be a somewhat rare occurrence, just curious.

I think so. However, say if the CL and EL winners were English and finished outside the top 3, then England would have five CL sides the following season.
