So I know Spain, Brazil and Italy are in the Semi finals. It's between Nigeria and Uruguay for the final spot. What are the scenarios for tomorrows games?

Nigeria would have to beat spain and Uruguay lose or tie tahiti to advance (or Nigeria tie spain and Uruguay lose I suppose) since they both have 3 points, but Uruguay beat Nigeria earlier 2-1.

Spain is good to go. Tall order for Nigeria to advance.

Thanks Doc.

I feel bad for Tahiti. They're out there giving it a go, but clearly they have no business in a tournament of this magnitude. The fact that they managed to qualify speaks to the quality of competition in OFC, and should have whoever finds themselves in 4th place in CONCACAF qualifying and facing NZ feeling pretty good about securing a spot in Brazil next summer.

LOL. As if 6-0 isn't good enough for Uruguay, Luis Suarez is now coming into the game.

We all knew what would become of OFC. That confederation literally doesn't even have any professional leagues since Australia's departure in 06. New Zealand can produce a few players, but that region is sparsely populated and not enamored with football.

I still like the way the tournament is put together. You've got six regions, a host and a defending champ. Good way to get some quality football during the summer break, and I look at the OFC berth as a half glass full situation.

Watching Tahiti score their lone goal was great, it was refreshing to see some guys who were just truly happy to be there even though they had no shot. Watching them carry that"obrigado Brasil" banner around was great.

I always forget how good Diego Forlán is because I only see him in international competitions now. He seems to still be plenty good to play somewhere in Europe.

I don't know if Brazil can keep this up for 90 minutes, but for the first 15 they have put on an absolute clinic on how to handle Spain's possession hogging style.

To the people who said a couple weeks ago that they thought Neymar was overrated, are you feeling any different now? He's only 21 and hasn't even played his first match in Europe. I expect he'll improve a good bit over the course if his first year against world-class competition and be in peak form by next summer. If Brazil shows up playing at this level a year from now, it could be a pretty special summer for them.

Meanwhile, they said during the halftime show that protestors had skirmished with police outside the stadium and tear gas has been drifting into the stadium. Also, at least one Molotov cocktail has been thrown. Damn.

If the US can put together any sort of decent showing, this WC could be a good platform for the growth of soccer's popularity in the States. I hadn't even thought about how this will be the first WC since '94 where the games will on in primetime (or close) here. It'll be nice having the games not start at 9 or 10 AM, and should provide a lot more people the opportunity to watch.

Will the games be in the afternoon? Like the Champions League? I was guessing 245ET and 6ET for the majority of game times.

Meh. Thiago Silva is the best CB in the world. Marcelo and Dani Alves are the best duo of wingbacks in the world.

They have a tendency to play too aggressively. David Luiz is a mistake waiting to happen. This match says more about Spain than Brazil imo.
