Why am I so scared by this new coach? I guess I am afraid he might not really give a **** about US soccer, and is just taking a gig.

I'm scared for some reasons I believe I mentioned few posts/pages back, but not caring about American soccer is not one of them. Klinsmann has wanted the job for years. He tried to get it after the World Cup in 2006 and 2010.

hard to truly judge the roster when you don't know who all is available for call up.

Based on looking at it, my guess is that he tried to avoid certain Euros that are in uncertain club situations or that needed the rest.

He's lived in California for 13 years (including while he was coaching the German national team). His wife is American. His kids are American. He's had well-publicized interest in the USA job for at least five years. There are worries, but this isn't one of them.

Chandler picked up a minor injury in training, will be replaced by some FC Dallas dude that I don't know about: Loyd.

I think this guy played for UNC.. Was a first round pick if I am thinking about the right guy. Young but solid player (again, if it is who I think).

MUFC with the victory in the Community Shield v. MCFC.
MCFC Goals: Lescott 36' Dzeko (sp?) 45+1'
MUFC Goals: Smalling 52' Nani 58' (I think) 90+4'

that was a fun game to watch. I hate both teams, but have a stronger hate-lean for City so I was happy. haha

City looked to be on top form the way it started, but Man. Utd. came out of the locker room like a bat out of hell. Questions:

-Will Tevez be back?
-Is it true that Sneijder is for sale? If so, where does he land? I have heard City.

No, Tevez has told them to sell him and he actually moved out of his Manchester home. He has been meeting with Inter Milan and some other teams trying to get away. Also, it is rumored that Eto'o would be involved in a swap for Tevez. Which is exactly what they need.. another striker, right? Doesn't make sense.

EDIT: Tevez actually showed up to training camp. It didn't just surprise me needless to say.

Sneijder said this today, “All I know is that Inter need money and that I’m for sale if the right offer comes in.” It has been heavily rumored that Man United were the front-runners, but Man City have upped their interest, allegedly, and would be able to afford to actually pay for him. If he goes to United he would have to take a pay cut, but I think that is something he would consider doing because Nike is pushing the move and wouldn't leave him hanging.

So apparently Chandler played for his German club.

I guess we'll see if really is committed to the USA national team pretty soon here.

Yeah, I heard that as well, but I have also heard that people close to the situation say we have absolutely nothing to fear. Who knows...

Does Chandler think he would honestly break into the German national team? They are stacked for years to come.
Even if Germany didn't really need him, I wouldn't be surprised if they still wanted him as an option.

Chandler seems committed to the USA from what has been said, but I understand why he would want to play for Germany.

If he wants to play, the USA is his best bet. Period. It's a crapshoot with Germany, but a sure thing over here.

True, but I wasn't talking about playing time.

I have to think Chandler feels like a German, and that he belongs on the German team.

Can he settle for just a German coach?

I'm actually not sure how he feels about Klinsmann. Hopefully it helps our chances.

If I were him and it didn't feel weird, I'd commit to the US based on playing time. We do have a lot of potential.

I don't think the guy would ever play meaningful football for them. That's why I think he should play for us considering he would be a significant piece to our puzzle.

Interesting on both points. Thanks.

England have cancelled their friendly with Holland at Wembley due to the unrest in England at this time. Sad, really.
