I do (maybe not on a 120 game basis). But also what scouts say. What people around the league say, etc. etc.
Really not incredibly difficult to comprehend.
I don't care what "whocaresimascoutdude" says...
Funny that we've moved to assuming I don't "comprehend" good defense and how important it is. I mean, come on...
Well, you don't care what scouts say and you basically consider defensive numbers worthless. I'd like to hear how you evaluate defense other than "I just trust my eyes 100%".
Talking baseball is always fun.
At no point in this exchange did you actually talk baseball. Z talked about the different information that he takes in to form his opinions. You said "I don't care". Fantastic discourse.
How so? Is the Bradley article I posted only about defense? If not, why are we only discussing defensive numbers?
I haven't even mentioned the Bradley article nor did you ever address it towards me, so I'm not sure what your original argument is.
Do I think Mark Bradley had a legitimate point about how valuable Simmons has been on the defensive end? Yes. Do I agree with him that Freeman is the team MVP and that Andrelton hasn't done enough at the plate to warrant this hypothetical award? Yes.
That's because defensive metrics are not reliable for first baseman. Freeman ranks average while Simmons is the best defender in baseball on those numbers. If Freeman sucked like Prince Fielder on defense, I'd probably make a better case for Simmons overall.
