Well, he knows he'll miss two weeks because he's on the DL. He's out two weeks regardless. Going or not going on the DL probably wasn't his call. I would have thought maybe they would give him a few days of rest and see how it responded, seeing as how they already had another catcher on the roster, but it's probably more prudent to shut him down for two weeks at this stage of the season.
I know this is what baseball players and teams always do. I have no patience for it.
They called Pastornicky an hour after the game ended last night. They didn't even give Gattis time for an Advil to take effect.
