Can't wait to see how warm and hospitable they are to the thousands upon thousands of international tourists who will flood their country on multiple occasions over the next three years.

Yeah, the Brazilians just try to put band-aids over the issue by telling the free world that everything will be fine.. knowing damn well fools gonna be getting murked if they talk trash.

I'll be one of those tourists next year

I gave it some serious consideration but ultimately didn't pull the trigger on a trip I was looking at. I was mostly joking about it with my post bc most of my decision not to go wasn't due to safety concerns but it definitely was a factor that at least crossed my mind. Also, if I was going, it was going to be with my gf and that would've made me a little more concerned than I would have been with just a buddy or something.

How are you planning the trip? We were looking at just going to one location and staying for the round robin and just hoping that we got a good draw.

Cubs now "reportedly" talking extension with Matt Garza. Probable ploy in an attempt to drive the price tag up in trade, but if he is signed, the return on Hudson or MEHolm could increase nicely with very few pitchers on the market.

They just had some issues with people getting caught between the protesters and the police during the Confed. Cup that just ended and the amount of people traveling for that are a fraction of how many will descend on them next year. I don't see the issues being resolved in that time frame so I've got to assume the same will be the case the next time the people down there feel like they have the platform to make a point.

Also, to your point, I was not going any where near either the Rio or Sao Paulo stadiums.

I still can't believe that they ripped the referee's head off and put it on a stake on the field. Better yet, I can't believe the referee offed dude during play which incited the entire event.

Decapitations related to soccer: Not just in Brazil edition.

A pair of Moscow teenagers were detained by police this week for allegedly decapitating a homeless man with a saw and ax, reports say.

Russian tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda reported Monday that the two teens had been intoxicated when they attacked the homeless man. One of the teens allegedly cut the man's head off, then scalping it and kicking it around like a soccer ball with his companion.

The newspaper writes that the teenagers kicked the head until it landed in a trash can. They reportedly left it there and returned home to sleep. RIA Novosti reports the head was "taken away by a garbage truck in the morning."

Yeah, I almost put serious thought into it last World Cup but never pulled the trigger. We'll end up just following the US through the round robin. Like the idea of just the one location, but since we've got free tickets to US games thanks to a buddy of mine who's younger brother played with Jozy Altidore at the u17 World Cup, some with the U20 team, and at Bradenton (granted this is assuming Jozy actually makes the team because if not he doesn't have free tickets to give away). Would definitely be concerned with making the trip with a gf though, though I'd hope Brazil pumps enough money into security to prevent their country from looking like a bunch of fools that it isn't much of a concern.
