The Avengers

I Thouroughly enjoyed the movie but I have a question. Did Bruce banner all of a sudden figure out how to control the hulk? I was a little confused on that point.

I think that since he wanted to become the Hulk before what I think is a giant alien serpent coming toward him instead of having to fight it when on the Shield Ship-Airplane was the difference.
ALso did Tony Stark say something about controlling the Hulk?

didn't you watch the very end of the 2nd Hulk movie? Banner is out in the woods somewhere and a "100 days without incident" flashes, Banner opens his eyes and they're green and the "100" drops to zero as Banner cracks a smile.

he learned how to control the change in other words

I haven't seen that movie. I couldn't bring myself to watch it since the Ang Lee version was awful IMO. Should probably go back and do that. I still haven't seen Thor or Capt. America either.

Those two lead directly into Avengers. Loki is then villain in Thor and the Tesserect (aka the Cosmic Cube) is the what the Red Skull uses to power his weapons in Cap Am.

The Incredible Hulk is better than Ang Lee's Hulk but both fail at trying to be too moody. The Avengers got the Hulk right for a change.

Did they also get Bruce Banner from how he is in the Marvel 616 Universe?

Saw it yesterday. It was very entertaining.

SPOILER

Did anyone else notice that the staff Loki is using contains the blue (mind) soul gem from Thanos's Infinity Gauntlet? I'm guessing the next few movies are going to revolve around the other soul gems until Avengers 2 deals with Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet. I'd also like to point out that in the movie Thor, you get a glimpse of the Infinity Gauntlet in Odins vault.

IMO not exactly. Banner should be a bit nerdier and emotionally repressed. I liked his portrayal in Avengers but I wouldn't say it was in line with the comics.

Good eye. I didn't pick up on Loki's staff but I knew about the IG in Odins artifact vault.

What I didn't understand is all the gems are in the IG in Odins vault. If he took one, why didn't he just take the whole IG and become unstoppable?

It's interesting to think what's going to take place over the next few Marvel movies. I like how they are linking all the movies like the comics. We saw the IG in Thor, the blue gem and Thanos in the Avengers. I suspect to see Adam Warlock, Captain Marvel, and possibly a few more cosmic characters, oh and Death of course. You also see the Agmotto Eye in Thor as well. So I expect to see Dr. Strange soon.

Here is my No-Prize answer:

When attempting to pilfer the IG he could not get it to release from its safety deposit box in Odins Vault. So he settled for attempting only one Gem at a time.

I expect the whole cosmic Marvel U to open up soon. A Guardians of the Galaxy movie is in the works. It's too bad the Silver Surfer is tied up with the FF at Fox.

Boo, the Fox SS interpretation sucked big time. To have the true IG story it has to involve SS, Galactus, and the FF4, as well as the X-Men and Spiderman.

Thor better not be puss whipped

Thor has some of the same problems that Superman (or any of the REALLY heavy hitters) has in storytelling. After you have them basically shytwreck a planet how do you incorporate them into a more "normal" story? They're capabilities/vulnerabilities are moved around all the time. (actually Hulk has that happen too)

I'm speaking mostly to canonical material. Movies get a lot of leeway in their retelling.

Its tough no doubt about it. Thor could easily wipe out lokis entire invasion army.

Also makes you wonder why Asgards army cannot be summoned. Of course the byfrost has been destroyed but Thor got back to earth just fine.

Saw the movie. Liked it.

And as mentioned above, Thor of the comics could easily wipe out Loki's whole invasion army.

In the comics, he is more powerful that the all rest of the Avengers combined. But as hndog609 was saying, this would make for a dull movie if Thor just flew in and kicked the crap out of everybody and the movie was over in 5 minutes or less.

Thor has more raw power than the rest of the Avengers (although there has never been a clear winner when battling the Hulk) most of which comes from the hammer. But he is not Superman. Even in Ashard he always traveled with companions. He doesnt have super speed and he isn't completely invulnerable. He has taken his fair share of beatdowns in the past.

Ain't we all. :)

Was the weapon that Loki stabbed Thor with a weapon that can make people bleed even if they have a high degree of invulnerability?
Thor Hulk fight in Shield Airplane was a Stalemate.

Did Hulk punch Thor because he was still angry that he couldn't pick up Thor's hammer?

I looked at estimated ticket sales for the movies over the weekend.
Even with The Dictator, Battleship, and What to Expect When You're expecting The Avengers still hugely won.

Anyone else think The Avengers could make 300 million in the United States or more?

1.The Avengers 55.1 Million 56 Million Internationally
2.BattleShip 25.4 Million 6.5 Million Interntationally
3.The Dictator 17.4 Million 30.3 Million internationally
WHat to Expect When You're Expecting opened 10.5 million
