The bad part about the B.J hire

I don't know if Florida still runs it now, but, they ran the spread option when Urban Meyer was there and they pretty well beat the mud out of most of the SEC teams they played. So, how can anybody say that we won't win with it. By the way, Florida had and still has a damn good Defense. You naysayers just aren't thinking outside the box. Just remember that we won the NC with a running qb. Tennessee resisted as best they could even putting TM in there. Also, we had Heath Shuler(running qb), Alan Cockrell(running qb), Condredge Holloway(running qb). We also had a pretty decent Defense during those different stints. So, a Spread Option will definitely work in the SEC.

How about this, 45-23 Dooley beats this guy. What is your argument for that?

An SEC beat a Big East team? Shocking.

That was basically the only game that the Bray-Hunter-Rogers combo was together. They were at their peak potential that was never again achieved because Hunter got hurt in the next game and never really recovered.

Yeah god knows We don't want to run an offense that has won UF two NC's and Auburn as well...Damn We would be really stupid to even think of doing that :shakehead:

UF- Consistent top 5 classes.

AU- Cam Newton

End of story..

Nope UF runs a offense like Bama and LSU. They go under center and run the football.

Name one team that runs an up tempo Offense that has a good Defense?

Do you mean in terms of good players or good numbers?

Because the vast majority of fans who are moronic to the game of football don't stop to realize that the defense compliments the offense, and vice versa. If you run an up tempo, fast-paced style of offense, that typically means there are more points scored in less amounts of time, which also means your defense is on the field more often than your average ball control, ground and pound type of team. Therefore, there tend to be more yards and points given up. But it doesn't mean the defenses themselves are actually any worse. And just because this isn't the "norm" in the SEC doesn't mean it wouldn't work.

I would take Oregon's entire defense in a heart beat right now. If they weren't up 42-0 at halftime every week, their defensive numbers would probably be up in elite category.

Oregon? They have a very average Defense, not good at all.

Doesn't South Carolina pretty much go completely from the shotgun? I could be wrong on this but was thinking so.

Never seemed to hurt there running game.

Lets all just admit that the UT administration only cares about Academics and could give 2 ****s about athletics and its fan base. Prime example, well the last two hires will show you.

We had a great/good team in 2011 with a lot of potential before the injuries. Cincy's team talent level wasn't as good. It was close but CDD and company coached a good game. Had we played them 4 weeks later we probably would have lost. He kept his team believing while ours fell apart. Doesn't mean he's a bad coach.

Keep trying. You'll get that negativity out of you yet.

I get the injuries but we had almost everyone back by the UK game besides Hunter.

The bad thing about this is he runs a "big 12" or "non SEC" type of offense, that is not what we need. We need a balanced offense with a great Defense if we want to compete in the SEC. Im afraid with Jones we will be just like last years team, score points but give up a whole lot more then we score. I hope I am wrong but the SEC is a conference that you need to be able to run at will and play great D! Look at the teams that are successful? Hell look at the NC this year. Bama- Runs the ball great and has the Best Defense in the nation... ND- Runs the ball and plays great D! I hope this works out but all I see is we will be in the same position in 3 years..... looking for a new coach and buying out yet another staff. With that I will still support Butch and I really hope he proves me wrong because you have no idea how bad I want to see my VOLS win. Actually you do, I can speak for all of us, WE JUST WANT TO WIN! So good luck Butch I really hope you turn this ship in the right direction, I just don't think the scheme he brings fits the SEC, that's just my opinion. But GO VOLS! Here is to hopefully a much better year!:hi:

The bad part about the BJ hire...we hired him.

Oh yeah we had a super talented team.... that lost to UK without a QB.... nice try though, also Cincy was picked to beat us as well.

Hunterless morally defeated team with "time bomb" Bray at the helm.

Like it or not, CDD had no choice but to play Bray with his lack of care attitude. Maybe Bray changes but for now he doesn't lead a team well.

Ok well Auburn had one of the best players to ever play college ball... Cam Newton. Tex. A&M has the first freshman to ever win the heisman (I think he will win it), but also A&M plays pretty good Defense.

In 2009, without Cam, Auburn came in Neyland and ran all kinds of crazy plays. Monte had no idea how to stop 'em. Granted, it was no blowout (22-16 best I remember) but I agree with those that say mixing it up a bit may be okay. May even be some damn fun.

If you haven't noticed Monte has done nothing since he has left Tampa. He had to quit his USC job just a couple of weeks ago.

Morally defeated team. Bray plays better with a clean slate. Once he gets a few loses under him he loses his desire. Atleast that is his MO thus far.

your point is valid VFL, but it's no use man. we got who we got. you have to come to terms. either Jones figures out a way to make it happen, or he doesnt.
