The bad part about the B.J hire

What is going on?

There are better ways to deal with problems physical, mental or spiritual then giving up on your life. No matter your age or problem, you can reset and try anything again. Do not be so down on yourself. Again, what is going on?

I am tired of having no money everyday. I am tired of having no wife or girlfriend. I dont have any friends either to do fun things with. I cry everynight. I just cant take it anymore.I am 30 years old.

When people post things like "We have to run a pro style offense to be successful. We can't run out of the shotgun formation and be successful in the SEC!", I wonder if these people have even watched an NFL game in the past decade. It is rare to see a team run more than 20% of its offense from a two back set. Most of the time, it's single RB, TE and 3 receivers. That's usually what Peyton's offense is doing. The only time you see lots of traditional I-Form is when a team has a terrible QB, they are trying to eat the clock, or they are trying to convert short yardage. Florida, A&M, and Auburn have been successful in the SEC with the offensive style similar to what the OP is complaining about. Has anybody considered those 'elite' players at QB might have been just above average players helped by an effective system?

I'm not going to write-off the new coaching staff or their strategy before they've even held a real practice. I will at least reserve my judgement until after the 2nd or 3rd SEC game. Even then, I suspect this staff will be able to make adjustments.

Man if we could find a qb like the 49ers have starting. The only school to offer him a scholy was nevada. won't even try to spell his name.

I'm sorry--but wasn't Nick Saban whining about "hurry-up" offenses because he got beat by one in Texas A & M? He's crying about it not being fair because it takes away the advantage of him substituting personnel. Fact is, not everyone can recruit like Bama so I think a style such as BJ's would get high approval from me if we could beat a team like Alabama. I think all this have to play pro-style in order to win is crap. You play the style that suits your personnel that beats the other team..if it happens to be no-huddle, triple-option, spread-option...then so be it. I heard some idiot on the Sports Animal say "Tennessee fans won't embrace the spread" total BS.

The bad thing about this is he runs a "big 12" or "non SEC" type of offense, that is not what we need. We need a balanced offense with a great Defense if we want to compete in the SEC. Im afraid with Jones we will be just like last years team, score points but give up a whole lot more then we score. I hope I am wrong but the SEC is a conference that you need to be able to run at will and play great D! Look at the teams that are successful? Hell look at the NC this year. Bama- Runs the ball great and has the Best Defense in the nation... ND- Runs the ball and plays great D! I hope this works out but all I see is we will be in the same position in 3 years..... looking for a new coach and buying out yet another staff. With that I will still support Butch and I really hope he proves me wrong because you have no idea how bad I want to see my VOLS win. Actually you do, I can speak for all of us, WE JUST WANT TO WIN! So good luck Butch I really hope you turn this ship in the right direction, I just don't think the scheme he brings fits the SEC, that's just my opinion. But GO VOLS! Here is to hopefully a much better year!:hi:

Define "non SEC" offense... pretty sure Florida, Auburn, aTm, and LSU wouldn't agree. The SEC is less about what kind of offense you run, and more about your defense.

Unreal!!!

I just dont have anything left to live for anymore. I am tired of the bs everyday. If you lived my life you would hate it. Its just not worth fighting anymore. All the pain and suffering I go through everyday for so many years.

What is going on?

I'm sure this is not the place to discuss it, so if you are interested in talking about it, I'll start you a thread in the Pub. If not, please talk to someone. :hi:

Let me know.

I love when people start threads like this so I know who to ignore.

IMHO the fact that Coach Jones made it a point in his initial PC to say it wasn't exactly a spread offense and more of a finesse/rough/fast and furious style offense is the perfect counter to anyone hating on his "spread offense system"

Second, he also said in the PC that he would adapt the scheme to the players talent, and no the other way around. While the OP may think he knows what he's talking about, at this point it's more of a wait-and-see rather than bash our new coach's assumed style of play.

The real bad thing about this is that he hasnt coached a game yet...when he begins to turn things around and wins some big games, we will all be happy.

I am more concerned about our talent level than our scheme. Can we hang with the top teams for 4 quarters? I haven't looked, but I think our record would have been quite a bit better if we just went by the half-time score, the last couple of years.

Been there
Thought that

It's time to go and just tell your primary Dr how you are feeling and then do what he says to do...regardless
If you don't have a Dr go to the local emergency room

Thousands of people every day say exactly what you are saying
You are not alone....unless you choose to be
Now go get help...You are worthy

Florida and Auburn called, they want to show you their rings

Did Tim Tebow, Cam Newton or Johnny Manziel call as well and let us know they'll be playing for UT next year? Because that's the kind of elite QB talent you have to have to make that garbage work in the SEC.

Um who was Johnny Manzel exactly this time last year, at Bama? 2 star Johnny Manzel? and did his team beat Bama this year? OH and I think, Tebow and Cam Newton won NAtional Championships running that offense, right? Who says we do not have a guy that can run that offense just as effectively next year?
(see Nathan Peterman Film)
Did you listen to Jones press conference at all?

Well, pretty sure Chris "Noodle Arm" Leak has a few points to make on the Florida line as he is wearing his ring while never seeing the light of day in the NFL.

But you're right; the spread is stupid.

I mean, you need good players to win games?

**** that. Let's go to Bamas offense, their players aren't worth crap. :good!:

You have to have an elite level QB for the spread option to be highly successful in the SEC because its essentially nothing but smoke and mirrors. Barring a top notch guy to run it, the speed of SEC will still overcome the deception aspect.

We either need to aspire to recruit an overpowering line and backs like Bama currently has (which probably won't be the direction we go because that's not what Jones runs) or try to get an all-time great at QB to run his spread option. Until one if those things happens UT wont be competing anywhere near the top of the SEC.

The bad part about the B.J hire is that we will have over 1000 walk on's for 2013....if the world doesn't end that is
