I'm a bit skeptical now due to the fact they didn't have any new info yesterday about this... Its easier for me to believe these guys troll message boards and pass it off as inside info than believing they do have an inside guy...

Anybody think that the coaches were talking about Ambles, and the Chatt guys or the source were wrong to assume it was a QB?

So you don't consider him a big fish? I have to say I do. He was big time in high school. Went to a school that won a national title, and lost his scholarship over off the field issues.

Pat White is a spread QB, Chris Leak was not and that's why his numbers went down in CUM's offense..he wasn't meant for that offense. I repeat..Leak was a pro-style QB...why do so many people get this wrong? He did not resemble Brunetti is any form or fashion as a HS QB. He was more of a Barkely type of QB without the pro potential, though.

You just totally missed his point. First off, he said fit the mold of Leak OR Pat White. Next, the thing that Brunetti has in common with those two QBs is his height/or lack thereof. He was not making a comparison about their style of play. Everyone knows White was a spread qb and Leak was a pocket guy. You just missed what the two have in common with Brunetti...

I'd consider him a big fish but seeing as the staff has said they wont evaluate him till September, i really don't think he'd have an offer mush less be committed.

I thought he did have a verbal offer, but they were waiting on Scroggins to see how that turned out. I know they said they would evaluate him this season, but I think the Scroggins commitment could have changed that. Especially since I read an article recently on govolsxtra about how Kiffin was going to look back at how qb recruitment has gone. I just think it makes to much sense.

No Newton does not have an offer. As far as i know the Newton pan is on schedule. I think Barry Brunetti (sp?) may be the first QB of this class.

I think the coaches were somewhat surprised by Ambles' commitment. He had been leaning to Florida for a long time, but after talking to them they decided to go their separate ways. I really hope that the reason for everyone else backing off of Ambles doesn't come back to haunt us. He's a helluva player. There's no denying that.

So, maybe someone could point me to an outline of how and when the rumors formed. I know that someone spoke to Craig/Monte at Longhorns (or something like that), someone spoke to Kiffin at the Nashville BBQ, the guys in Chatt said their source indicated a big fish was on the line. But this last one might just be their wording of the stories on VQ and here about someone talking to Kiffin and him saying that we'll be alright.

If that is the case, then maybe Lamaison is the "big fish." I say this, because that would mean that there never was a "big fish" and Kiffin was saying news would be coming soon on the QB front and not to worry...that they were working the situation. Lamaison would fit that mold (sort of), but certainly not the big fish mold.

It bugs me for these people to be saying Lamaison is the "big fish" ... that is simply dumb to me.

In my opinion, the radio rumor came directly from Volquest. Decade (a poster on volquest that knew when the coaches were informed about scroggins) said that we have a silent qb commit. A couple different people have also talked to the coaches and they told them that we have a surprise coming at qb.

haha Lamaison WAS A SILENT QB COMMIT, However i am not sure it was a suprise or big fish that a coaching staff would sell to their fans..

Yeah, the UT AD department was kinda surprised that Ambles committed, but they where excited as well. It is all starting to fall in place with the QB situation, he may announce soon. The coaches expect 3 or 4 commitments before they open camp.

I'll be glad when this stuff is over, this is killing me. It's kinda like a NASCAR wreck, too much smoke and crap to see anything clearly and you just have to wait to see who drives out of it.

He said Tennessee had been the leader since their camp....anyhow, great pickup.
