The Big Tech March to Silence Free Speech

France, Germany, Mexico, Australia Join International Outcry over Censorship of Donald Trump

An international outcry over tech censorship is underway, as political leaders from Mexico to Europe voice their alarm at the unchecked power of Big Tech, following the purge of President Donald Trump by the Big Tech Masters of the Universe

Germany

German chancellor Angela Merkel, whose pro-migration, anti-hate speech policies have little in common with President Trump or his movement, has nonetheless expressed concern at Silicon Valley’s unchecked power.

France

French political leaders also voiced their opposition. The finance minister of France, Bruno Le Maire, condemned what he called a “digital oligarchy,” calling it “one of the threats” to democracy.

Mexico

The French and German leaders join president Andrés Manuel López Obrador of Mexico, an avowed socialist, who was the first world leader to condemn Facebook and Twitter for banning president Trump.

“I don’t like anybody being censored or taking away from the right to post a message on Twitter or Face(book). I don’t agree with that, I don’t accept that,” said López Obrador.

“This is really serious” he added.

The United Kingdom

The Prime Minister of Britain, Boris Johnson, was reportedly alarmed at Silicon Valley censorship even before Trump was permanently removed from Twitter and other platforms.

In November, the Daily Mail quoted a senior government source who said the Prime Minister was considering new laws against tech censorship following Twitter’s censoring of President Trump during the U.S. presidential election.

The European Union

Manfred Weber, leader of the largest party group in the European Parliament, said “we cannot leave it to American Big Tech to decide how we can or cannot discuss online,” labeling it a threat to the “consensus building” that is “crucial in free and democratic societies.”

Poland

Poland, run by a populist-nationalist government, has long taken the issue of tech censorship seriously. The Polish government is in the process of passing a law that would fine tech companies millions of euros for censoring content that is legal in Poland.

Hungary

The government of Hungary, a resolute enemy of the international cultural left, began an investigation into tech censorship in Europe in 2019. A new anti-censorship social network, Hundub, was recently launched in the country. In the same year, Hungary also fined Facebook for claiming its services are “free.”

Australia

In the Pacific, leaders of the center-right government of Australia including the Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack, and the Treasurer, Josh Fryndenburg, also voiced their opposition to the bans of Trump from social media.

Russia

In Russia, opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who was the victim of attempted assassination by poisoning last year, said Silicon Valley’s actions bear the hallmarks of authoritarianism.

“If you replace ‘Trump’ with ‘Navalny’ in today’s discussion, you will get an 80% accurate Kremlin’s answer as to why my name can’t be mentioned on Russian TV and I shouldn’t be allowed to participate in any elections.”

Norway

Jonas Gahr Støre, leader of the left-wing Labour party in Norway and a favorite to become the next Prime Minister of the country, also criticized the censorship.

“This is a line where freedom of expression is also at stake,” said Støre. “If Twitter starts with this sort of thing, it means that they have to go around the world and look at other people completely astray, and shut them out.”

Hong Kong Trump Fans Change Twitter Icons to Oppose Censorship

Pro-democracy Hong Kongers are reportedly changing their Twitter avatars to signal support for outgoing U.S. President Donald Trump and protest Trump getting banned from the platform.

Many of these Hong Kong Twitter users found uncomfortable parallels between Twitter’s ban on Trump and the way their own speech and political activism has been ruthlessly criminalized and suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Conservative radio talk show hosts put on notice.........

Cumulus Media, which owns and operates hundreds of talk radio stations throughout the country, told on-air personalities to stop suggesting 2020 election fraud or face termination

Maybe people are actually starting to realize the dangers and unethicalness of continually and knowingly lying to the gullible base.
Speaking of gullible .....you’re posting some BS right here 👆🏼. If you were any more of a sheep your wife would shear you

I posted this in another thread to but:

How insane is it that same people who were quoting MLK all summer to defend riots as “the voice of the unheard” are wanting to ensure more people on the right are not heard from?

Courts could have been the safety valve after the elections. Somebody chose for them not to be - not to hear allegations of fraud. Violence is absolutely the result of deaf ears. Thanks for the quote BTW; I don't recall ever hearing that, but he was absolutely right about the unheard.

It is exactly the kind of thing that would send Trump on a long Twitter rant. He has gone nuts over less than that.

Yeah, and your idiots banned him, so he can't go nuts in public. How many times do we have to tell you actions have reactions, and a bunch of them will come back and bite you.

Ill let you look up cardiopulmonary arrest and excited delirium is and do some education

Pathetic. You're an apologist for a murderer. Both autopsies ruled George Floyd's death a homicide.

Homicide noun "The deliberate and unlawful killing of one person by another; murder."

More importantly, was there any evidence that his death was race related? Like at all? If we're protesting police killing unarmed criminals, why no outrage for Ashli Babbitt?

Starting with Michael Brown, the Obama administration created this deep racial divide and law enforcement distrust by making every black person a victim of racial injustice. Sometimes criminals deserved to be shot, armed or not. Sometimes there are bad cops or cops with inexcusable actions that don't happen to be racist. Yes, sometimes there is racism, but not everything is about race. Or at least it didn't use to be. Now, every black death by law enforcement is an unjustified, racial murder. Riot Protest now, ask questions later. White deaths by law enforcement, *crickets*.

Great observation! Racial division and law enforcement distrust began in 2008.

Missing the point entirely. There has always been racism. Unfortunately, it's not going away anytime soon, though it has arguably improved immensely. The Obama administration created the "victim" mentality. It doesn't matter if the person is innocent. If a black person dies by the hands of a police officer, that person is a victim and the officer is a racist criminal.

How did the Obama admin create this "victim" mentality?

It's a weird thing because FB, YouTube, and Twitter have given common people a voice that they never had before. On the net, they have done more for free speech than just about anybody/any entity. Yeah, they are cracking down on some viewpoints but we all have more capability to be heard more than ever before. Even somebody who is kicked off all major social media still has more of a voice than the average Joe did 25 years ago.

Not really. The difference between now and then is that you can heard by a larger group than 35years ago, but if you have a conservative viewpoint, you'll get banned and possibly fired.

I know that wasn't always the case but since the new marxisty party and big tech have joined forces, free speech is under more than ever.

Obama did flame racism, thats all he talked about. he grew that straw man argument to a giant.

If that many of our allies are expressing concern, that's bad, right?

I seem to recall that phrase before...

From the way he handled the Martin and Brown cases to dropping charges against the black panthers. He did all he could to stir the pot.
Specifically, what did he say about Martin and Brown that you take exception with?

And how does commuting the sentence of Black Panthers stir the pot? Which particular crimes do you take exception with his having commuted?

Lol. So this would be your approach if KKK members had sentences commuted? Lol.

That's not actually the way it works. The overwhelmingly large majority doesn't get banned. It's such a small number compared to the 74 million who voted for Trump. I would even say the people getting banned are mostly not real conservatives. They are right wing but they're not interested in fiscal responsibility and small government. They're Trump fanboy trolls who don't have much of a foundation in politics or conspiracy theorists. The banned are extreme exceptions to the rule. I've had non-conservative material censored on facebook and guess what? I'm not going to make myself into a persecuted martyr over it. Conservatives are treated unfairly but you guys exaggerate the **** out of what's going on.

And free speech is the same as it's ever been. You are free (from the government) to say what's on your mind and then you have to be ready to bear the social consequences. Nothing has changed, just the words that get you canceled changed.

The culture of free speech is diminishing from our society. Cant put that paste back in the tube by voting once it's accepted.
