Also, it's not like Knoxville in December is a balmy southern paradise. This is a good point. Everyone in the national media will be talking “wIlL SoUtHerN tEaMs bE abLe tO HanDLe tHe cOLd?” In a cold-weather, smash-mouth game where the focus is defense and running the ball, I think we have an advantage.
This is the CFB playoffs. For those of you who are worried about who we are paired with, I say GET OVER IT!!! The Vols goal now is to win a national championship, so YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE BEST TO BE THE BEST!!!I don't get all the angst. I believe we should be hosting. But, based on the way tOSU played this week and have not impressed all season - why can't we just go to Columbus and beat the shat out of em?! No team could make a bigger statement about conference superiority than our Vols. GBO.
This could potentially play into our favor, though. There is already going to be a ton of backlash surrounding a 3 loss Bama getting in. The committee might be inclined to avoid further outcry for having a second 3 loss SEC hosting and drop Georgia to a road game, bumping us up to hosting. Two 3 loss SEC teams getting in will be their talking point about fairness. All while we get the shaft..
If they lose.. They may kick Texas in the nuts again. To add insult to injury they'd leave their crappy resume in front of us too. They got it out for us.This could potentially play into our favor, though. There is already going to be a ton of backlash surrounding a 3 loss Bama getting in. I do think we likely see the best version of Georgia again in the SECCG. Vegas has Texas favored again and the ESPN game predictor thing is giving Texas like a 65% chance to win. We all know Kirby is going to be hammering the disrespect card all week.If they lose.. They may kick Texas in the nuts again. College football is great. It’s the agenda and bias of “committees” with zero common sense that turn it into the s*** show. Had to know this was coming. Ridiculous automatic bids, top seeds in horrible conferences with no quality wins and handshake deals under the table between committee members. What could possibly go wrong? Answer: This. I hope we see phenomenal calamity in the conference championship games this weekend. Let’s really muddy the waters.Travesty. College football just gets worse and worse
I've looked at every possible scenario and this seems to be the only likely situation where we don't play at OSU. OSU beat Penn St. head to head so very plausible that the Committee would put Ohio St. ahead of Penn St. Change of venue for us... from snowy Columbus to even more snowy Happy Valley.I think if Oregon beats Penn State handily, they drop below Ohio State and it’s possibly Penn State at 8 and us at 9.
