The Bracket

Clemson would host if they win the ACC. So, to me, it would be no surprise to see the committee put SMU as first out.
No they wouldn’t, they’d either get a bye or be the #11 or #12 seed playing on the road, depending on where the Big 12 champ ends up.

Not really mad about playing OSU as I think we can beat them at the Shoe. They looked soft against Michigan and we can actually run and throw the ball unlike UM. Sure we could easily lose that but when it’s playoff time it’s win or go home no matter who we play, and they are a top brand in the sport. Should be fun to see.

Bama on the other hand pisses me off like no other. They are basically gifted a Make A Wish bid on name alone. Plus their current by bracket is way easier than ours.

Hoping the championships cause a big shakeup and we get a home game and Bama gets left out. That would be the best Christmas gift I could ask for.

Only the first round is on campus, so Autzen is off the table. I doubt that it’s a more intimidating environment than Neyland, though likely up there with Neyland and Death Valley for noise.
You're right forgot that. So where do these teams play in rd 2? Like the cowboys stadium and stuff?

So am I reading this right?

Bama has ND in the first round and the winner of the ACC CG in the second. They should just go ahead and book tickets to the semi-finals. This is nuts.

Meanwhile we are playing at Columbus in the first round instead of hosting. This whole thing is irritating.

The way I see it, Tennessee will have to go through the pigpen in this order Penn State, Oregon, Ohio State to play the championship game against and whoop some bulldog ass

This is a good point. Everyone in the national media will be talking “wIlL SoUtHerN tEaMs bE abLe tO HanDLe tHe cOLd?” In a cold-weather, smash-mouth game where the focus is defense and running the ball, I think we have an advantage.
Also, it's not like Knoxville in December is a balmy southern paradise.

8/9 vs 1 is the Rose Bowl.
Likely but not yet set in stone. Whomever ends up the #1 seed would get the closest of the bowls in proximity and preference to them. If it is Oregon or Penn St, it will likely be the Rose Bowl. If it is Texas, probably the Sugar Bowl.

I don't get all the angst. I believe we should be hosting. But, based on the way tOSU played this week and have not impressed all season - why can't we just go to Columbus and beat the shat out of em?! No team could make a bigger statement about conference superiority than our Vols. GBO.
This is the CFB playoffs. For those of you who are worried about who we are paired with, I say GET OVER IT!!! The Vols goal now is to win a national championship, so YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE BEST TO BE THE BEST!!!
GO VOLS!

Two 3 loss SEC teams getting in will be their talking point about fairness. All while we get the shaft..
This could potentially play into our favor, though. There is already going to be a ton of backlash surrounding a 3 loss Bama getting in. The committee might be inclined to avoid further outcry for having a second 3 loss SEC hosting and drop Georgia to a road game, bumping us up to hosting.

If they lose.. They may kick Texas in the nuts again. To add insult to injury they'd leave their crappy resume in front of us too. They got it out for us.

I do think we likely see the best version of Georgia again in the SECCG. Vegas has Texas favored again and the ESPN game predictor thing is giving Texas like a 65% chance to win. We all know Kirby is going to be hammering the disrespect card all week.

Travesty. College football just gets worse and worse
College football is great. It’s the agenda and bias of “committees” with zero common sense that turn it into the s*** show. Had to know this was coming. Ridiculous automatic bids, top seeds in horrible conferences with no quality wins and handshake deals under the table between committee members. What could possibly go wrong? Answer: This. I hope we see phenomenal calamity in the conference championship games this weekend. Let’s really muddy the waters.

I think if Oregon beats Penn State handily, they drop below Ohio State and it’s possibly Penn State at 8 and us at 9.
I've looked at every possible scenario and this seems to be the only likely situation where we don't play at OSU. OSU beat Penn St. head to head so very plausible that the Committee would put Ohio St. ahead of Penn St. Change of venue for us... from snowy Columbus to even more snowy Happy Valley.
