The Braves Thread

His wife told NBC News that he had been receiving threats lately. Wonder if it was politically-motivated. Maybe a contract killing put out for political reasons?
I don’t know. I defaulted to claim denial related. Like John Q on steroids but I have no idea.

No clue how he didn’t have personal security.

“I don’t know details. I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him,” she told NBC News by phone.

“I can’t really give a thoughtful response right now. I just found this out and I’m trying to console my children,” she said, confirming that police had told her it is believed to have been a “targeted attack.”

That is an...interesting response given the circumstances. It's interesting that she would even speak to the media whatsoever at this point.

So.. the wife’s quote was in the breaking news report on CNBC which was insane to me too. They had it almost immediately.

Very strange.

Yeah. Not just the quote itself, but that she'd be talking to the media at all in the immediate wake of the shooting. Maybe it is reading too much into it, but she said she's trying to console her children.

If not a contract killing, perhaps some kind of inside job? This article says that the shooter showed up on foot 5 minutes before he arrived outside the hotel for the conference. This guy had a high-profile job, but he was hardly a public figure and an investor day event like that is only followed by/known about by people who are going to it or otherwise follow the company closely. The shooter not only knew exactly who he was after but knew exactly where and when he was going to be.

Obviously no intel here but putting myself in her shoes

I’m sure she was called and told her husband had been shot

Called going to hospital (?) called dead (?) called to provide her security (?)

Likely receiving all kinds of calls from unknown numbers and trying to stay up to date / current on situation

So maybe understand taking the call, maybe understand word vomit/shock/grief

But I don’t know..lot of stretching to get there on responding to media inquiry in the wake of your husbands murder.

I wonder how the media would have even gotten her number that quickly? Once you find out your husband has been murdered (and that info might have come from a known number within the company), you take unknown calls to your phone? And once they say "This is so and so with XYZ News," you keep talking?
Well they are only hers now
I meant it was interesting that she evidently didn't say anything about her own shock and grief.

I think Boo is going to end up being an all-SEC type of player. Did not look like a true freshman at all this year. Played really fast and instinctive, and with an edge too. Flies to the ball and hits hard. Plus he affects the punt return game.

I was kind of curious about his recruitment/high school career...I live in Chattanooga and he went to 3 different high schools in the area, one switch being because he got kicked out of CCS. But he had a great year.

He’s been awesome. He reminds me of Branch. I think him at safety lets him being more of a playmaker

I’m sure the fanbase will love it and maybe I’m just getting old but uhhh don’t love that
Yeah, same but every time I vocalize it, I get shouted down multiple times with "you'd love it if it was your team".

Can't stand when recruits do this regardless of if it's my team or not.
