The Braves Thread

The receivers are an after thought

You send them all the way to the sideline to drag defenders out. You get a numbers advantage in the run game. You make the defense tell you if they are in man or zone. You ask them to win blocking on these screens, swings and bubbles.

They’re interchangeable. They’re schemed open downfield. Until you run into teams willing and able to man them up. We struggle to beat man.

See Jalin Hyatt in New York :(

Am I a moron? Did playing in 2021 class not count because of COVID? Because it sports as Thornton with eligibility next year but that doesn’t make sense to me because he played more than 4 games every year

He only played 4 in 2021. He could have RS that year, right?

Eason makes sense for example because he played in 2020 but RS in 2021 so he gets a 5th year but I don’t remember that being a rule for 2021

Utsports has him playing 14 games in 21 and 11 games in 22 at Oregon
Ah, I was looking at game logs. I guess he only accumulated stats in 4 games.

I think the comment where it says he has 2 years of eligibility left is from January 2023, when he signed. So he had 2023 and 2024.

They have them updated for everyone (example it shows Cooper in his final year) so maybe it’s a typo or they forgot to update it

Catch and run guys. More guys that can make things happen in the open field. Even Thornton is a straight line guy. When was the last time squirrel caught a ball and made someone miss for a big gain? We don’t really have that
Hard to make anyone miss when you are in mid-air for every catch and then immediately fall down.

Also, other than Tyre West and Joshua Josephs, a lot of young and unproven guys on the D-line for next year. Jordan Ross might need to become a dude, and quickly.

Secondary should be fine.

They are going to have to hit the Portal hard again for the O-line too, right? Karic, Lampley, Mays, Spraggins, Campbell, Davis all will be gone.
They’re going to hit the portal hard, but hot take … I think the guys behind them are going to be good and just fell victim to seniority.

Heard, Umarov, Satterwhite, (portal), Sanders

They also like Perry, Warren, Heard at tackle and you have guys like Anderson and Ginther that were highly rated interior guys.

Hopefully Ross takes Pearce’s spot and Hobbs becomes a force and we can pick up where we left off. Secondary should be awesome especially if they move Boo to safety with Thomas coming back next year

I think Boo is going to end up being an all-SEC type of player. Did not look like a true freshman at all this year. Played really fast and instinctive, and with an edge too. Flies to the ball and hits hard. Plus he affects the punt return game.

I was kind of curious about his recruitment/high school career...I live in Chattanooga and he went to 3 different high schools in the area, one switch being because he got kicked out of CCS. But he had a great year.

Daune Morris (RB signee) absolutely dusted Boo’s Bradley Central last year for 4 TD’s. Super under ranked player.
