The cancel culture is getting out of control

Cool. So show them porn? Idk what you’re trying to say.
lol.....Isn't the discussion about what lengths should be taken to "protect" them?
Ban a book with a drawing but do nothing about their access to porn on their phone.
Makes sense.

Are you claiming school wifi doesn’t limit porn? Or can we agree that’s already limited

I'm claiming they do not have to connect to wifi, plus they spend 85% of their hours outside of school.

So we agree the school does limit access to porn from their wifi?

Access from their phone itself is different because that’s the decision of the parent.

And now you’re seeing the issue of government in general.
Oh I am aware of the issue of government in general and school administration in particular. As long as we have schools then someone must decide what is taught and what media is available to the students. If we want to replace the traditional arrangement of superintendent, school board and school administrators, and state board of education, what system should we implement? .

Vouchers, private schools, and home schooling. If half the people want their children reading specific books and the other half don’t, school choice is the obvious answer

Hard no on vouchers. That would make public schools worse and simply give a discount for families of means to send their kids to private schools.

Home schooling? Very few parents have the skill set necessary to effectively educate kids.

It would also mean families of lesser means being able to afford better education. If your argument against it is “it would make public schools worse” it seems you’re admitting most people wouldn’t send their kids their unless forced

I agree homeschooling isn’t practical for everyone. I’ve never made that claim.

So we agree students can easily choose to look at porn at school?
Yet you want to take away their ability to choose to check out an educational book with a nude, non-sexual drawing.

I want such power to lie with parents. You restrict the wifi at your school. Parents have the same ability with the phone of their children, but don’t always do so.

You’re wanting to remove that power and give it to a school board.

What age do you believe is appropriate for nude images in childrens books?

Birth.

The human body shouldn't be a source of shame, this is a learned behavior.

"Protecting" children from nudity is a reflection of our western society shoehorning nudity into the same box as sexuality. Western culture isn't as nutty as it is in the middle east, but it's in the same ball park.

So basically each kid should be taught exactly what their parents want, no more and no less? And no government schools? I don't see that as workable. What if parents want their kids to learn lies? Or not learn math because it's satanic? Or just don't care what their kids learn or not? And if the only private school in commuting distance is run by Hindus and the kids are Baptists, or vice versa? Given all the barriers to a fully private education system, we will have government schools for the foreseeable future, How do we define the curriculum if not under the current setup? Parents should certainly have input but a small group of parents, of any political bend, should not be able to set the agenda.

I'm not advocating for banning the book, I guess you are. Parents should have the right to decide if they wish for their child to check out that book.

Why do you believe the government will make better decisions for your child than you?

Despite all the money and time we’ve spent, no one has an answer for saving kid from bad parents, so I’m not going to attempt to proclaim I have one. Foster homes are a failure. We can’t increase the number of kids we are taking. And we don’t do a good job with the kids we do take out of homes.

You went from calling them 50% of parents to “a small group”.

But vouchers will answer the majority of your concerns. Parents will get to decide on which of the offered options they prefer. I’m sure all of those will include “satanic math”

“If we have vouchers, the public schools will just be segregated dumping grounds, far worse than they are now”

That seems to be the anti voucher argument here. It seems to admit two things:

1. You agree with me that public schools suck otherwise people wouldn’t leave them in mass like you fear.

2. You seem to have a weird and low opinion of minority students
