It would also mean families of lesser means being able to afford better education. If your argument against it is “it would make public schools worse” it seems you’re admitting most people wouldn’t send their kids their unless forced
I agree homeschooling isn’t practical for everyone. I’ve never made that claim.
Giving poor people money for private school will increase wealth segregation?
Please explain….
Most people believe private schools to be better, That is better addressed on a case by case basis. However, vouchers would leave a bigger gap between the haves and the have nots by removing kids and money from the public schools. It would destroy the public school system and there is really no need for it. Parental involvement is what makes any school good or bad. We need to encourage that. Defunding public schools is not the answer.
because it won't cover the cost of tuition completely and poor people won't be able to fund the difference.
No, the few poor who would take advantage would fall into the parental involvement or athletic ability segregation.Giving poor people money for private school will increase wealth segregation?

I agree we should encourage parental involvement. That’s why the right brings up the issues of 1 parent households constantly.
Vouchers would allow parents to decide where they believe their child will be best educated. That’s obviously a positive.
How is giving the have nots money for education going to expand a gap?
How would it destroy public schools?

If I give a poor person a $10 gift card to Capital Grille.. do you think they are likely to use it?
If you give it to a regular at Capital Grille it will get used but have no real impact because they were going to eat there anyway.
I raised my daughter in a single parent household, worked full time and was president of the PTA.
You don’t think you would’ve done a better job with a second person? The answer is obviously yes. People on the left often try to bring up this weird example (I did it!). Cool. Doesn’t mean it’s optimal
Knox Catholic charges roughly 12k a year as of today. The US average expense per pupil is over 13k as of 2019.
Where do you get this misinformation?
Edit: probably teacher union propaganda
Not where I was. I went to lots of meetings outside my daughter's school and found there to be an inverse relationship between attractiveness and involvement with the PTA. Lots of uggos.
Tennessee spends about 8k per kid.
The state spends about $11,139 per student, ranking 44th out of 51 states and the District of Columbia, according to the report, Making the Grade 2021, by the Education Law Center.Oct 28, 2021
That wasn't the case at our kids schools I substituted for the wife at the PTA meetings for awhile when she was traveling all the time. It was eye opening being the one of the only guys at those meetings and events. Worse than being a dance dad.
