The coaching situation at TAMU

Waiting on confirmation, but I think we're done with the search.

If the speculation I've read this morning has any validity, Sumlin is out and Richt and Peterson are in the mix. That assumes Fedora is going to accept the North Carolina position. Care to elaborate?

As in Mark? I would hire Fulmer for less money.

Richt needed to avoid Bama, Arky, and LSU to make his first SEC Championship game in six years at Georgia...why would he go to A&M where he'll have to face all three every year?

Sounds like he was given a time table and we we're not willing to pull the trigger based on some other school forcing our hand.

A classic bird in the hand strategy. UNC is to be commended for their savvy.

That's it for me. Headed to North gate to visit the wise-men. We'll see whats up. Pretty sure we have our guy and have since this morning.

Adios.

Should start to stir a bit over the next 48 hours. Still no announcement scheduled but that's not uncommon. House keeping duties on both parties.

I'll let you know.

Shouldn't be much longer now. Might have the official word by the end of the day, with a press conference by Friday.

Things have progressed quickly recently.

Sounds like either of the rumored top two candidates will meet with a round of boos. I know nothing about Calhoun, but his resume is intriguing. If its Sumlin, I think he'll win over the team in spite of the public outcry.

50/50 for the first year. No one gets a fair shake anymore. Especially in Football.

Do you think the fan base will be happy with who the next coach is? Assuming you already know.

That's a loaded question. I think the fan base is split because of Coach Sherman's dismissal. Some felt he deserved another year, others wanting him gone. With that as a base, I don't think any coaching announcement will unify the fanbase.

Other than Sherrill's hiring 30 years ago, I don't know of any head coaching hire that met with universal approval. Aggies are a dysfunctional group. We have the resources to be a powerhouse...but the powers that be in College Station seem to mess it up one way or another.

Billy Clyde was the last coach I remember "everyone" being united. But like I said, this is football.

As in when he bailed on us? :lolabove:

Honestly, I think many of us, myself included, had no clue who he was...other than the UTEP coach.

BCG was a home run from the start for those in the know. He just needed a program that could provide him the resources to put it all on display.

It's locked up between now and tomorrow night. My earlier note about Friday should stand firm.
