Looks like Calipari may have pulled in another great class and steered Selby away from UT.

Yeah, I have seen more things saying that Kentucky is not in the running for it as much anymore. Not that they're out completely, just that it's between UT and KU.

I'm saying he may have steered him to Kansas, not to Kentucky. I'm not trying to break any news, just speculating.

I don't think we NEED Selby. But I think he would DEFINITELY help. I think Selby vs. Knight would be an interesting story when it comes Kentucky time.

Depends on what you want for UT basketball. If you want to see UT be a legitamate Final Four team, then yes, we need Selby. If you want to be out after the first weekend, and maybe make the sweet sixteen, then we don't need Selby.

That's true. I don't know if I want UT to turn into a school like Kentucky where they just come for a year and they're done. I want Tennessee to be that place where players go to play 4 years. Selby would probably be one of those players...but then again, we thought Hopson would be too.

I just want Tennessee to be a powerhouse year in and year out that still feels like its players care about it. I guarantee you I'd take 4 years of watching Wayne Chism grow and develop than watching a year of John Wall win knowing that he really is only here cause he has to be.

I know what you are saying, but having a one-n-done is fine every couple years. We really need him. He pushes us to another level.

Yea, it remains to be seen how the 4 or 5 one-n-dones a year approach will work out at UK as far as championships are concerned. But Cal definitely showed that having 1 one-n-done mixed with other experienced players works very well.

I also tend to think people are jumping on the wagon with the one and done thing. This year is a HUGE exception, IMO. I doubt you will ever see another class like this years come in and send 4 players out after one year. I'm not speaking as a homer, its just that players like Wall and Cousins are once in a decade type players. Bledsoe playing anywhere else but behind Wall at UK would have been amazing.

Even if this class pulls in Lamb, Jones and leslie, I still think you might only see two of them declare for the draft after their freshmen year. Thats just my gut feeling, and I could be completely wrong. I certainly didn't think we would have 4 this year.

A program under Cal is always going to have a high turnover rate, but I think things will level out (even if its small) a bit.

I agree. And I think the results in the tourney will improve when you guys get a good mix of experience and talent.

I think the only 2 players that UK may land in this class that are one and done are already signed (Kanter and Knight). I don't see that Jones, Leslier, Poole, or Lamb as that kind of player.

Plus, to back up Hardwood (even though I hate the whole one and done thing) a LOT of players went out this year that normally wouldn't because of the alleged lockout that's coming. If it weren't for that, I'm quite positive that Bledsoe and DEFINITELY Orton would stay.

Excellent point. Orton and Bledsoe heard they were probably going to be first round pick and had to take the money. I can't blame them.

Yeah, right. Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans would laugh in your face.
That Kevin Durant guy was pretty good. There have been a bunch of great freshman. Maybe not all as good as Wall and Cousins, but there have certainly been better.

IMO, this is more of a trend and not an exception. Looking at the latest early declaration/what are you thinking ? list, I believe uk will continue to have several kids every year, capable or not, that arrive with enough hype and self confidence to throw their hat in the NBA cesspool.

After all, the quick path to the NBA is THE main reason they are attending uk, in the first place.

Lebron, Wall, Cousins, Durant...Rose, Evans...Calipari

Great ? "once in a decade" type players?

NONE of these players/coaches has won SQUAT at the NCAA or NBA level !

They have sold some shoes, i guess.
