Carrying water is the "Pearl is Tennessee basketball" people. I, on the other hand, like having a very good coach. Forgive me for liking the fact that 15-10 is considered catastrophic nowadays.

I count 36-20 in 5 points and under since he's been at UT, 21-8 with Loftin and Co, 15-12 since.

And going back to my other point of who are the wins against.......yeah.........

Liking that "fact" and pretending as if Pearl is some sort of strategic guru is different matters.

I had 31-14, not considering this year. Not bad. And, I'm missing what you said about the teams he beat. I'm not sure that would really work in your favor, Pearl's beaten quite a few good teams during his time here.

There's quite a few W's against the Belmonts and likes of the world in that 5 point and under margin as well.

He wins more than he loses, but I'm never going to think he's a late-game mastermind. Better than Buzz for sure, but still no guru.

So is pretending a guy winning at a 70% clip isn't a great coach. I never pretended the guy is Pete Carril, creating a new offense, but he certainly can coach, much more than you've ever given credit for. Unless, of course, Lofton had 15 years of eligibility. Lord knows, that's the only way he wins.

I think you'll find most coaches, even high profile ones, are in the same lot.

Yeah, elite coaches don't ever have close games against mid-majors.

Considering Pearl's teams have a top 5 SOS annually, that's not a bad record.

I don't really understand the whole argument of Lofton bailing Pearl out in late-game situations. Many coaches have all those type of players. When a coach can just call an iso for his best player late in the game, is that not also a coach getting "bailed out"? Such a weak argument...

So, essentially you have nothing to say, except for a few pot shots, that you don't like Pearl and other people are stupid. Ok, got it. Sort of like arguing with hat, though without the arrogance.

No. it's as I've stated already a few times in this thread alone. Without being bailed out, the discussion on Pearl's questionable game management ability would have been brought up ad nauseam.

Not that hard to see considering I've had to repeat it more than once for folk like you and tbob75.

Look for yourself.

There's a higher number of close games against mid-majors and downright bad SEC teams in his tenure than I would ever like.

Here is a scary thought. If we fire Pearl, we put our fate in the hands of Hammy to make a decent coaching hire.

Yikes.

Pearl was great. Kiffin was a disaster. Dooley is up in the air. As far as recent hires, Kiffin and Dooley don't really give me great confidence in his hiring decisions.

I'm just hoping that if Pearl really does go, it won't be in August. That would be an even worse time frame than the Kiffin-Dooley disaster.

The right money isn't going to come. No matter how poor the performance on the field has been Tennessee is and always will be a football school.
That would be a good point if Pearl weren't one of the highest paid coaches in the country. As it is, it's just dumb.

I don't care if Dooley wins 10 NC's at UT, none of that credit belongs to Mike Hamilton. The only reason DD was hired in the first place is because Hamilton got caught with his pants down by Kiffin's departure, and then the first 5-7 candidates MH talked to said thanks but no thanks. If DD turns out to be successful, it will nothing but sheer dumb luck for Hamilton. DD wasn't even considered for the opening after the '08 season when he was coming off a bowl appearance, but then was hired after a horrible '09 season. Simply put, Dooley got the job because no one else would take it, not because he's who MH really wanted for the position.

Why is it so difficult for you guys to give him any credit? It's all dumb luck for 20 years until his true colors are shown this year? The Tyler Smith isolation play didn't work a couple of games ago for Tony Jones, so it's possible that the play was a good setup to find an advantageous matchup for Tyler in 2008. And, yes, the Florida defensive set up was noted by Pearl as stating the spot on the inbound could create the type of passing lane for Bradshaw to steal the ball. It was a good call.

Come on, Unimane. You know better than this. The iso play didn't work against Bama because Harris was doubled and they had no clue what to do, which is a coaching failure. Also, of course Pearl will sit back and boast about simply denying an inbounds pass as if there was some type of genius involved in making the decision. It was luck, plain and simple. If Billy D sets a back screen, it's a layup for UF, plain and simple. That play, and succeeding in general in late game situations under Pearl, has been the exception rather than the rule.

You just can't give any credit. According to all your little rants Pearl is the luckiest coach to ever coach basketball. It's remarkable he has such a great resume with crappy sets, crappy recruiting, etc... It has to be because he has always had superior talent to bail him out at uwm and ut.
