Do you want Bruce Pearl to be Head Coach at UT next season?

I understand....But as fans we cant do nothing but support whoever is in charge....Putting down our own coaches does nothing good for our teams....

I get what you're saying, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but supporting a fraud isn't going to help our program either.

I'm just going to enjoy every moment for the rest of this season because after this year, it's going to be rough, whether or not Pearl is retained.

we will see.somebody did Calhoun a favor with only a 3 game suspension.Im not defending BP or anything but if all Cal got was 3 games then the 8 game suspension BP got should be more than enough punishment then. But Im afraid the AA is saving the big punishment for Pearl.

Calhoun didn't lie. You can't compare the two.

Pearl, Will be suspended for 2 years from the NCAA. He will become a NBA Scout or Assistant Coach and may become a division 2 or 3 head coach in 3 to 5 years.

Hope I am wrong, but based on what the NCAA has done in the past with other coaches, this is what will happen.

I think eventually Tennessee basketball recovers, probably take a while. I think it's unlikely Bruce Pearl remains the coach at UT. In the end he'll be forced out i think and Hamilton with him.

Well I want to win.....period! And Bruce Pearl gives us the best chance, we've already come so far in six yrs and his name alone to recruits is big and hes one of the most known and "KOOL" coaches around to young recruits. He needs to just learn how to cheat like Calipari without getting caught! We all know 99% of coaches cheat in one form or the other! and in no way do we get a coach that can take us were he can. We will be back to being a South Carolina like BB program.... Sorry but that's not for me!

Are you inferring that he gives recruits cigs?

No, but goods were exchanged in relation to recruiting activities. The funny thing is, you would think that after a good 50 years of investigating practices, and laying punishments we would have some sort of precedent to go on leading us to what UT will most likely receive. Too bad the NCAA is so effing backwards/random that we can't do that here.

For some reason I can see Tennessee getting hammered (basketball) where technically they committed only one more violation than UConn-with UConn providing actual benefits, and Tennessee misleading the NCAA and making too many phone calls (something UConn was also guilty of). Measuring this in a vacuum you would think UConn's transgression is worse, but I see UT getting the harsher sanctions.

They should have fired him already. They're setting themselves up to get nailed to the wall. They look at Bruce as a cheater now and it casts a bad light on the University for sticking by him. Awful PR move in my opinion.

Doesn't really surprise me though the way things have been running up there for some time now. Poor leadership from the top down.

I really doubt Bruce Pearl will be fired. I don't think he should be. I'm sure UT had some idea of what was going on with the NCAA investigation.

One thing for sure, the NCAA cannot fire Pearl, cut his salary, etc. They can make him draw a circle on the chalk board and make him hold his nose in it for as many games as they want. They can take away his cell phone privileges, and they can take away his privileges of "sucking" up to 15 to 19 year old prima donnas.

Don't any of you think that admitting you lied helps his cause? If one of your loved ones lied to you and then later admitted it wouldn't you feel better about the situation and maybe not be as harse?

How do all of you experts on VolNation continue to act like experts even after you are proven wrong?

Ok, I'll hangup and listen.

Calhoun lies everytime he opens his mouth so yeah maybe he didn't lie. People if you think Calhoun wasn't behind all of this you're just stupid.

I don't want to lose Bruce Pearl, but if he knowingly cheated three days after his press conference then he is a hardened cheater and needs to go now.

I have consistently argued in Pearl's behalf, but if this is true I am over it. Let's fire him in the most advantageous way possible and hire the best available guy in the country on OUR timetable. I understand hypocrisy when the time periods do not overlap, it's called repentance or --at best-- being inconsistent. But if you lie WHILE cheating then you are a hypocritical liar and should not be a "leader of young men."

What the haters do not post is that the letter said on the 14th or thereabout. Do you not want to find out the exact date or if it happened at all.

Who cares if Calhoun lied, he isn't being accused of it, nor did he come on national tv and admit it. Yeah he's slimy, but apparently smart enough to not get caught.

Bruce saving grace will be that he admitted to lying. The self-imposed penalties will also help his case. If you read the notice of allegations, it states that he "initially" gave misleading information. UCONN NOA does not include the word initially.

NCAA rules are way to damn complicated. Hell, I'm sure coaches break them daily and are not even aware of it. We keep Bruce.

Bruce admitted to knowing the rule. He has also been around long enough to know the basics (which his violation were). It's not like he wore the wrong color socks on a recruiting visit
