That's a new line of reasoning. Bruce has put the program in such bad shape that nobody any good would want it.

I'm 50/50 on the matter, part of me thinks he's accomplished all he can here, but the other part believes if he gets a couple guys he has previously been close on (Craft, Selby) he can accomplish even more.
As for the questions bolded above- a few short years ago, you pretty much had to hold on to him because he was the best Tennessee could possibly get. I think that has changed now.

With football in a rebuilding phase, the worry of being constantly overshadowed by a national powerhouse football program is not an issue for the time being. Basketball attendance further proves this.

I'm not suggesting that we can get the likes of a Coach Cal, Rick Pitino, or Billy Donovan, but I think CBP has proven that the Tennessee job can be something more than previously thought.
I could see a young, up-and-comer (potentially someone from a mid-major tired of having to win their conference tourny to have a legit shot at getting into the NCAAs) looking at the Tennessee job as a destination job.

The dark cloud of the NCAA's iron fist might scare some off, but when it's all said and done, I think the program will get off with not much more than a slap on the wrist- certainly nothing that would set the program back more than a season or two at most.

Even with the NCAA problems Coach Pearl has had more production with the level of talent and accomplished more than UT Basketball has ever dreamed of without legitimately cheating and paying for play.. I hope he gets thru this and is Here for yrs to come and makes every Pearl hater eat there words..

I don't think this is accurate though. Our facilities are impressive, and we have shown what we can do with a decent coach in Knoxville. I don't think anybody's expecting anything too crippling in the way of sanctions.

As a whole his whole body of work while at Tennessee............ how can u call for a coaches head after one season... every coach has a bad seasons.. Look at Michigan State this season Fl the past few yrs and other teams.. We have way to high standards considering post Pearl Tn was not a good bball program..

Jerry Green and Devoes attitudes irritated me to know end. DeVoe MUST GO!! would have been on my car if I wasnt just a kid at the time. lol. Seriously though I have been really upset with DeVoe being outspoken saying Pearl should go. He is mad for 2 reasons Tennessee firing him and Pearl not playing his walkon son Elliott. I know people can win here at a pretty high level. But to put the Buzz Peterson or Wade houston likeableness with some ability to coach was what Bruce Pearl brought to the table. Make no mistake I will support no matter who is on our sidelines but losing Bruce will sting my heart. As for Hamilton who cares.

im not happy with the season but get real people...making the tournament is never a bad season for a program like UT...we would have loved this in most eras of our history...this team could play better but pearl has put us on the map

Interesting comments and you are entitled to them. Can't say I agree.

First, nearly every coach in the SEC and many in the media have commented on the how good the talent level is at UT. Either they are all full of it or it is true.

Second, with it being very likely the program will be going on a multi-year probation plus additional penalities I would say that our coaches did legitimately cheat. Especially since Pearl did say they did it and it was wrong, after he lied it about it to the governing body of collegiate athletics.

Regardless of whether he comes back or not really has nothing to do with being a hater of Pearl. It has to do with being a lover of the university, its sports programs, and its fans. Pearl caused big problems for all, not just himself and the team. If he had not done the things he did, this team probably would have won at least 5 more games than it did and there would have been far less hating going on.

Read all the threads.... 75% of them are .. and with NCAA almost every team in America commits worse violations than a cookout and more phone calls than allotted.. They never even report it.. yes he may have lied and know one knows why or what he was thinkin.. or if he was even ask to lie from higher authority within the program.. everyone makes mistakes and everyone gets a second chance.. I know ur coach is held to a higher standard than players but honestly do any of us know what happened under the radar and maybe he lied to protect someones job.. no one knows so until its all over and it all comes out we can't judge him.. I THINK HAMILTON LOSES HIS JOB DUE TO FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL PROBLEMS.. I would rather lose him than Pearl anyday.. Obviously he wasn't monitoring the athletic dept as he should have been...

Hamilton may have a hand in the way Pearl acted to the allegations and it will come out I'm sure.. There is something I have never liked in him running our athletic dept..
