The Dallas Cowboys football circus thread

I gotta wonder how much of that was the team gaming up for the new HC.

Either way, if Garrett can parlay this into 5-3 or better, he'll get his shot and I'd be okay with that.

I'd stay wary about asking for Gruden. He's great in that he got that year one super bowl, but he turned the bucs into an absolute train wreck in the years after

Yeah I've never understood the fascination with Gruden.

Idk I wouldn't be totally against it. He's a better alternative than the typical yes man cupcake types Jerry seems to prefer.

What do u guys think
about Sean Payton back in Dallas? He would be the perfect fit, imo. He's a very good coach who commands respect but also seems to be liked by his players. I wonder if it would be possible to pry him away from new orleans or is there a rule in the nfl against that?

The system that he runs is also totally different.

Except for small gaps with Chan Gailey and Maurice Carthon running the offense, the Coryell system has been used since the early 90's.

Is it possible Garrett was sandbagging the offense to get Wade out of there faster? Where the hell has this team been all year?

he'd have to be a hell of a risktaker then; that can get you fired faster than...well really fast if your bosses find out any proof (or sometimes just hints) of it

not happening. at all.

If Payton wanted it, I'd take him in a heartbeat. I don't see him leaving New Orleans, however.

Right. That's why there's really no chance of it happening. (and he'd become a pretty massive goat - not to mention it being a controversial move - if he left one team for another a year after winning a super bowl. ... that and the Saints also would have to give the Cowboys permission to talk to him about a job)

Beating the Lions to get to a two game win streak doesn't even register... I love it.

lol, reminds me of a quote from some comedy sports thing regarding vick coming back

that he "bravely battled back to lead the Birds against the NFL's elite...I'm sorry I meant to say the Lions"

Not a big Cowboys fan, but the documentary on Landry on NFL network last night was great.

Landry was a great man.

Yes, he was. One of the greatest innovators in football history and a WWII hero.

Jerry running Landry is still the primary reason Cowboy fans hate him.

A lot of rumors going around that Houston Nutt is resigning tomorrow and will become the Cowboys QB coach.
