The DNC convention thread -- all things convention go here

If Congress is going to vacate their legislative duty and be complicit with legislation by XO then they all deserve what they get, both sides. We’re already there anyway it would appear based on the last 12 years.

And I’m not amenable to entertaining any damn horrible person debate based on the tripe that has occupied the office for the last 20+ years and Congress even longer.
Congress is vacating their responsibility because dipshits label anybody who works across party lines “traitor” and squeeze them out.

Romney voted his conscience on impeachment. He gets death threats.
Kasich, McCain, Flake, Corker, Amash, Paul Ryan, the guy who voted against the first COVID stimulus, George Will, Charlie Sykes, David French, and so on down the list all refused to bend the knee to Trump for reasons that are perfectly consistent with conservative values. More consistent with conservatism than anything Trump has done, in fact. But they’re labeled RINO or Liberal by the base and get run out of politics for having the temerity to disagree with Trump.

The system is set up to require compromise to make lasting policy contributions. IMO it’s contradictory to complain about Congress abdicating their responsibility but then supporting a guy who stokes those retaliatory sentiments whenever a member of his party dares to vote against him.

I challenge that entry statement. They are EXPECTED to work across party lines that’s the damn point. And don’t freaking offer up Mitt damn Romney as an example of anything other than a waffling spare whose 15 minutes of frame ended long ago.

The system might be setup to encourage compromise but the damn parties sure didn’t get the message. And I really don’t care to hear any more bitching on how you don’t like Trump I haven’t seen a single better alternative offered yet.

I didn’t hear anyone mention Biden’s new policies. All I heard was Trump was bad.
If it wasn't for Biden's mental faculties (or lack thereof), it'd be by far the biggest problem with their campaign.

Winning presidential campaigns, however nasty they might get, do at some point put forward a case as to why their candidate is good. It isn't an exclusive focus on why the other candidate is bad. As nasty as the campaign was, Trump did this in 2016. His mantra was "Make America Great Again" - on its face that has nothing to do with bashing Hillary. Obama in 2012 and 2008 did this, Bush in 2004 and 2000 did this, Clinton in 1996 and 1992 did this.

When you think about the losing campaigns - Hillary 2016, Romney 2012, McCain 2008, Kerry 2004, etc...they spent way more time and too much time talking about how the other guy was bad. They were on the back foot most of the time, and it's hard to win that way.

‘A Star Is Born’: GOP Candidate’s Ad Trounces Michelle Obama DNC Speech In Digital Metrics

Screen-Shot-2020-08-18-at-5.03.35-PM.png

As noted by The Daily Wire on Monday, Republican strategist and congressional GOP candidate Kimberly Klacik released a hard-hitting ad slamming Democrats for their apparent fake concern for black lives, highlighting the devastation in Democrat-run cities, particularly Baltimore. The ad went viral online, racking up millions of views within hours and earning astounding social media engagement, such as shares, likes, and comments.

The ad was so hot, in fact, it seemed to have eclipsed former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech given on the same day, at least digitally, said The Post Millenial’s Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Ballingall.

Sorry, Sheldon Cooper, challenge denied. This forum is full of people, including you, who demean all of the conservatives I named, when they don’t lick Trump’s boots.

And any functioning adult will do better. You think a 77 year old confessed plagiarist would be polling at +7.7 against literally anybody else? He’s garbage. You hitched your wagon to the garbage truck and missed your chance to detach before it unloads it’s cargo on your head.

Sheldon Cooper reference from approx. 2:00 in the video.

Don’t bet the farm on early polling numbers

😂😂😂

You’re trying to chest thump over these two candidates and ridicule me choosing the one you think less of.

One of them is going to be elected in November. If I really can’t stand the Democrat more than the Republican geriatric old white dude then geriatric old white GOP candidate it is. Go chest pound off that. And schedule your Pyrrhic victory party now for your 3rd party. Here I’ll give you the party chant.

We’re number three! We’re number three!

I ridiculed you for being inconsistent and I’m not sure what part of “77 year old confessed plagiarist” is chest thumping, but I’m going to go looking for some new Don Quixote gifs while I wait to find out.

She’s going to lose by 30+ points. She’s a grifter who will turn her lose into a spot on Fox News.

So if you're counting at home, speakers include Kasich, Cindy McCain, Colin Powell. GOP convention will NOT have Bush II or Romney.
