This is one of the dumbest posts I have ever read. You do not even know the name of the coach at ohio state. Bruce Pearl is in a job almost zero people on your list would take.

Bo ryan just had a MUCH worse loss to wisconsin green bay. If we lost to tennessee martin it would be similar. Jamie dixon? He never has horrible losses right? Sean miller? A guy whose program is on the decline?

You listed some HOF guys who did not do more in their first 5 years at a BCS school than Pearl has done. You listed a drunken idiot and liar who screwed a whore in a restaraunt and then paid to have his kid murdered. Grotesque and stupid list.

You might want to study your basketball history a bit more. Xavier has a pretty good history of recruiting mid-west cities like Cincinatti and Chicago. They are listed in the top 20 of most valuable college basketball team. They generally have a quality team and play in a conference that would probably give the SEC a run for its money. Xavier is better than UT in basketball heritage.

When Bruce came here he built the program on hustle and blue collar kids. What he has now is a bunch of lazy thugs that will never amount to anything in basketball or life. Our program has gone in the opposite direction from where we were in the first two years of the Pearl era. As a season ticket holder, I'm tired of seeing half effort against average teams. That will get you beat in the long run. (yesterday) I would rather get beat every game giving 100% then win like we do sometimes. I'm just sick of it. I'm ready for a new coach.

That list was a tongue-in-cheek response to an earlier poster who said "name one coach better than Pearl" :)

I don't know that I can say I'm ready for a new coach just yet, but I am ready for some simblance of a half-court offense.* What we are doing in the half-court is pitiful.* Why do we keep shooting 3's when we can't hit anything?* Why not run an offense and try getting a shot within fifteen feet of the basket?

Let's get this out of the way quick. I do not hate Pearl. I hate the way we have played flat the past 5 games. It's been a trend downward since he got his players in here. They've got no heart, no fight, no desire to rebound or play defense. I hate that our best rebounder is out on the perimeter thinking he's the reincarnation of Ray Allen shooting all those 3's. Apparently, it's part of the gameplan to have him on the perimeter or he wouldn't be out there so much. What you are replying to is your genius statement that a half court offense is limited to "6'4" fat guys". Well golly, who would have thought those darn short fat guys could have laid the smack down on us by 20. Pearl takes us to the tournament yearly, and apparently he and everyone else is fine with just making it there. Ok, be complacent. I've had a taste of winning with hard-nosed players like Lofton and the Smiths and Major Wingate and I want more. That's what happens when you start winning, expectations rise.

We have to recruit ballplayers, period. We have athletes. You can't win basketball games with athletes. You have to have a few ballplayers to go with them. We do not play smart basketball. The answer is not to throw up a three point shot when you are shooting <20% and your down 12. By the way I hate the 3 point shot. Part of basketball now, we have to live with it. You cannot win consistently playing run and gun while continuously launching 3's.

So basically these lists are like the middle-aged slightly overweight balding man who sits around fanatizing about being married to supermodels and how wonderful life would be sitting on a beach drinking Corona's all day with them. Then when he looks at his attractive wife that's been with him even when he was a loser he becomes unsatisfied. So he divores her and ends up at a bar alone wishing he could have back what he lost.

Actually, Green was much better coaching a half-court offense than Pearl. He, unfortunately, didn't care about the program and lost total control of his team.

What did Green sell? He brought in a few good players (Haislip, Slay, Higgins), but he basically played with O'Neill's players (Wharton, Black, Victor, Harris). And you could easily argue Yarbrough b/c O'Neill brought in his brother, Del Baker. We had some success under Green, but he didn't sell jack to the fans or the boosters except W's.

YES! pearl needs to be FIRED!

UT has been an NCAA staple for decades! Numerous top 10 rankings, multiple NCAA bids, great recruiting classes, sold out Gyms, ect..........................

You are correct. get rid of the best thing to happen to UT basketball in???...????...???

The SC coach did not outcoach Pearl. Pearl did not coach a bad game against SC. The Vols' shots hit iron. Period. When you're not comfortable shooting and you're too disheartened to rebound, you lose basketball games. Someone shooting with some confidence and getting hot keeps us in the game. What specifically did Pearl do to coach a bad game? Shots wouldn't fall. UT's chemistry is such that when they are not getting shots to fall in their half court office ... they wilt. Hopefully we don't have anymore games like that. Pearl can instill confidence.
