The End of the Bruce Pearl Era.

How many times did DeVoe make the tournament in his final five seasons? If that's your definition of consistency, it speaks volumes about both your standards and your intellectual capabilities.

Way to run to that media guide. Look at it a little closer and tell me if we were in the tournament his last year he coached here. His firing worked out beautifully for us over the next twenty years.

Are you kidding me? really. He just got a commitment from a five star recruit at point gaurd. ....... Again stick to racing.

Uh, What? Who did we sign at PG that is a 5 star? The only 5 star we have is Tobias Harris and he's a Power Forward.

His last year? You mean when we lost twice to the worst Kentucky team ever, choked like dogs down the stretch to finish in the middle of a pathetic SEC pack, gagged on our home floor in the conference tournament, then topped it off by getting decapitated by West Virginia in the first round of the 'AAs? Yeah, that was a golden year. Remind me what power program scooped DeVoe up after we so wrongfully sent hm packing.

I didnt say signed. I said committed. Kevin Ware

Easy on those reigns Seabiscuit, he also got a commitment from Josh Selby. That didn't turn out well. Let's see if Ware bails out also or actually signs.

Florida then he went to Navy where he went back to the Tournament about a 5 to six times while we waited until the late 90's to return.

I knew the answer. I just wanted to see what absurd defense you came up with. Also, he didn't come close to six appearances at Navy.

Or, focus on what actually happened :ermm: Please forgive me. [/sarcasm]

Stuff like Selby happens all the time even to the Coach K's of the world. It happens get over it. Move on. He has a great class coming in next year to build on great talent that is already in the pipe line.

Your right it was only three appearances, but six sounded better and I figured with your knowledge of bball I could slide by.

That's why you shouldn't "figure." You obviously suck at it.

I really cannot see how a person like you (by looking at the number of posts you have made) can seriously think pearl needs to go. Its either you have no life or you just dont know sports. Probably both.

And please tell me, oh Wise One, where I said we did not have a great class coming in.

Again, his record speaks for itself. Keep calling in on the local radio shows and giving your opinion because all the rest of us love a good laugh. Also, playing at a Jr. College or Carson Newman on scholarship doesnt mean you know basketball (or really that you are even a decent ball player). Trust me if I was armless with no feet I am very confident I would beat you like a drum in bball. Do me a favor dont ever donate over 500K to UT. Why you may ask? I am afraid if you start donating that kind of cash to UT someone may actually start to listen to your emotionally based reasons to get rid of Pearl, which is reminiscent of what happened to DeVoe. Then I will have to endure the likes of Wade Houston, Kevin O'Neill, and Buzz Peterson again.

can you please try to refute my arguments about pearl?

do u see a half-court offense? have you ever heard a coach say "my goal is not really to score out of the half-court offense. i just want to wear the defense down and then call a play." do you see that going on? if you think that IS happening... do you think it worked last year... or is working this year?

can you explain the coaching mentality that says... "i just can't get these guys to press how i want." or "i can't get these guys to train." or "i don't want to coach effort."

coach pearl says himself... "this is the most talented team i've ever had." and its full of guys he brought in. yet they are playing like the most under achieving team pearl has ever had. is the janitor to blame?

can you tell me why or how lofton and bradshaw worked better in the full court press than these guys?

please someone... show me how i'm wrong. translate his "i just can't..." statements please. tell me you played for bobby knight or coach k and how they moped around in front of reporters saying... "i can't....".

you say... "the record speaks for itself." if you keep comparing pearl to the past... of course... he looks like the Golden Child. but do you think, KU, TX, UCLA, UNC, Duke, UCONN, Syracuse, Louisville, Indiana (under BK),Mich St, Cals Memphis and UK give a crap about division titles and sweet 16s? really?? he's won an SEC reg season title... his best achievement.

see, the thing with you Bballvol, and the other pearl apologists, you are scared. you're so happy to have the program energized that you don't see that energized, promoted, and talked up, is not the complete picture. you're so afraid there is nothing better out there. so you hear people like me point out the negatives and you just spew out venom and insults at me and anyone who would advocate taking away your newly revived, energized program... fearing that if pearl leaves... we'll be back in obscurity.
