The eternal QB debate (merged)

There is no way Crompton is better than Stephens. I don't care what Kiffin says. At this point, he can't hide it. Sure, Ginger had the bad game against Wyoming, but that was the week Fulmer was fired, anyone would've sucked. Against UGA and Bama last year, Stephens threw 3 TDs and 0 INTs. Enough is enough...

please, enough is enough w/ all your common sense.

Not taking up for him but, he's playing and that's what he wanted to do. From what we (I) heard, he knew he wasn't going to with the Vols.

Neither is NS if Kif holds true to his saying he isnt going to pull the named starter. Nothing short of a broken arm will he pull Crap diesel. Its going to be a long season.

Stephens had one really bad game against Wyoming, but had decent games against SEC competition, including ZERO interceptions against Bama and Georgia. I'd take that over Crompton's guaranteed crappiness versus everyone.

Putting up 14 and 9 points against Georgia and Alabama last year is not something I would call decent. He also had a really bad game against South Carolina. And I don't really want to mention again just how many times DB's dropped pics from Stephens right in their hands.

I dont know why you guys keep bringing up the wyoming game when Stephens talk begins. The whole freaking team quit because they were pissed the FAH was fired that week! Nick Stephens is a freaking gamer and Crompton is the worst QB in college football history!

obviously you have the knack for locating intelligence unlike QB talent.

Why don't you come up with something better than, "Well someone has to be better than Crompton. They just gotta be." Your QB talent evaluations are in hot water at the moment.

A gamer? I'm assuming you've watched his HS tapes since he's never shown that as qb at UT

Have you seen any evidence to the contrary?

Most qb's without alot of game experience struggle from time to time. But you have to believe that either one of the other two options could have progressed rather than regressed. To go from a 5 TD performance to the same old pick six every other possession and not regain your composure after 3 games is just mental. Not saying the dude is dumb by any stretch. He's actually very smart. It's just like his head and arm is not wired together right.

You honestly think Crompton is starting because of his HS games? I think we've found the next NEW COACH.

Man, thank you. I was trying to remember his name(New Coach). Whatever happen to that guy? I think he was going to start at UTK.

Anyone want to still say that BJ Coleman got a fair shake? This just proves that Lane never gave the kid a fair shake, Crompton is beyond awful. No way Stephens or Coleman could have been this bad.

he did and he quit after being put on the bench. Maybe he just couldn't handle being worse than JC. I know it would shake my confidence too

If you consider any of the games Stephens played in decent then your standards should be low enough to call Crompton all-sec

Wow, have you looked at the stats from last season at all?

I'm not saying Stephens is great, or even good, but at least more serviceable than Crompton by a long shot.

Stephens had considerable passing attempts against NIU, Georgia, Miss St., and Bama and threw ZERO interceptions. NONE. His first INT didn't come until South Carolina.

Everyone wants to say Stephens must be worse than Crompton for him not to be starting, but I just don't see it.

As you can see clearly from the stats, Stephens even had some big-play ability with longs of 52 against NIU, 60 against UGA, and 49 against USCe.

Wyoming was a bad game for EVERYBODY. Saying Stephens sucks because of that game is fallacious. Crompton has consistently performed terrible, committing turnovers left and right, while Stephens actually HELD ON TO THE FOOTBALL last year.

If Nick Stephens is so great, someone please explain why the best in-state offer he got out of high school was from Baylor. Texas, Texas Tech, and A&M all wanted nothing to do with him, IIRC.

Evaluations?? who on here can give a competent QB evaluation? It's venting and discussion with other clueless people. Who the hell are you to judge about my evaluation? Maybe you should apply for the job

You have no idea how much I would love for us to scrap the UT-Martin game next year and replace it with UTC. It would be worth going just to see Chris Walker rip The Quitter's head off.

Alabama has UTC for their homecoming game this year...
