The eternal QB debate (merged)

Steve Alatorre.....I seem to remember a hole in my wall due to him having the presence of mind to put the ball on the ground while scrambling in his own end zone while playing Georgia Tech. He is a lot closer to the bottom than the top of the list.

Isn't he a Central High legend?

You are probably right. I just knew him at UT, seems like his dad might have had a business of some kind in Oak Ridge, maybe not, I don't remember exactly. I was a Sr the year he came in as a Freshman and was doing Freshman orientations for the college of Ag at the time. He was a Pre Vet major at UT. I remember talking with him about that $750,000 baseball offer out of highschool and telling him the Door of UT wouldn't have hit me in the ass on the way out if I'd got that kind of offer to got to work somewhere. :)

How could you guys forget about the second coming of all QB's from the college of the sequioa'S MR. BRENT SCHAFFER! He was horrible as well.

I won't say much about him he didn't get enough snaps and was a true freshman not like Crompton who is mentally still a freshman.....

I dare the few Cromptonites out there to defend this Cromptonism:

“You all keep saying we’re getting frustrated, we’re not getting frustrated as an offense because we’re moving the ball,” UT quarterback Jonathan Crompton said. “I mean, obviously, we come out last week and have a 15-play drive to open up the game. That’s moving the ball. We don’t get frustrated because the more we can establish that, the better we can be.

“OK, if we get points on the board, that’s fine. We have confidence in our kicker, and then next time we’re going to fix it and go from there....”

when asked the same question, Kiffin answers the CORRECT way.....

“It’s a big concern,” Kiffin said. “We’ve pointed it out, we’ve showed them where the plays are to be made, and it’s the little things.......

The heart and desire Crompton shows for wanting to SCORE the ball makes me so glad to have him as our QB. I mean, his “SCORE at whatever cost” mentality really gives me confidence that we're heading in the right direction with him as our QB. Because, it’s not like a touchdown is worth more points than a field goal anyways…. 7 equals 3, right Crompton?

I apologize for the rant, but it's comments like this that really grind my gears.... Is it me or does this comment reek of Fulmer... his apparent acceptance of mediocrity is very Fulmer-like.

You could not be more right. I know a lot of people say that it can't be one person's fault and I agree. But if you do not have a good past speaking publicly, and you are trying to win back the most passionate fan base in America, then why keep talking. Please let the coaches and the players that actually understand and can articulate the gameplan speak to the media. Just keep working on your reads.

When talking with my dad about UT football, we've both said that the most irritating thing about him, is when he opens his mouth or acts out when you can see him on TV. He never takes personal responsibility for his actions screwing things up. If you saw the end of the game against UCLA, he's yelling at the receiver, acting like he had the wrong play. Even though if you look at where the ball was thrown, if it was supposed to be a curl, the ball would have either been A) at the receivers knees, or B) 6 yards short of a first down, when it was 4th down.

Remember his comments last year about the fans not being important?

You know what really grinds my gears? No one's come up with a new priest and a rabbi joke in like 30 years. Ok, ok, uh, a priest and a rabbi go into..the supermarket. And the priest says, let's buy a ham. And the rabbi says, "Nope. Can't eat it. Not allowed. It's forbidden." Pigs are like super-heroes to them. Is it perfect? No! But I dont see you coming up with anything better. And that, people, is what grinds my gears.

Next time a thought comes to your mind, just let it go. You'll live a happier life.
Leave hatred for the Gators. There's just no use.

If your coach puts you out there to be asked questions, and you get asked a question, it's now your job to answer the question asked.

If you pay attention to Cromps comments over the years, you realize he is operating with less than a full load---and most everything he has said sounds like Fulmer coach speak. Truth---like it or not.

give me a break. You have plenty of posts here that rival his comments and you have time to think them out. Now stick a mic in your face and ...

ahhhh, cmon fellas, those funny facial expressions were just a representation of a kid having a good day playin football. I dont think for one second he beleived he was a world beater by doing that. He knew who he was playing, Im certain the Kiffin family reminded them of that.
