Lane has to be cussing CPF every night for leaving the cupboard bare at quarterback. He is doing the best he can do with what we have. Coleman didn't want to fight for the job period. I am extremely worried about Auburn and hope we can regroup our thinning lines and step up to victory.
I dont understand it the kid is trying its not like he skips practice and doesn't study film. He is in his 4th system in 5 years. I would like to hear some insight into his play from somebody tht actually has experience coaching. Just cause you can score 72 points on PS3 NCAA Football doesn't make you a coach!
How is it on the coach's shoulders? He inherited an untenable QB situation. He has no option but to play someone. I don't understand why we're staying with this, but this debacle rests squarely on the plate of CBS' newest former coach commentator. It's on the coach's shoulders. I respect Crompton for what he has been through. He does work his butt off and studies film. He has the physical tools. He doesn't have it between the ears. The kid makes bad decisions. I don't see that changing and the coaching staff has to realize that. I love the VOLS and will support them til the day I die but the coach has to realize JC lacks in the ability to make good decisions which is vital to the QB position.
He got a full scholarship to play better than this.
Has anyone thought for a second that the pressure Crompton feels is not caused by the defense he is against but our fans? How would you like to be under a 100,000 person microscope each week, knowing if you do not play perfect you will be getting booed, people on message boards blasting your every move. Is it too hard to fathom that perhaps he does so well in practice is there are no boo birds around?
It is so easy to sit in your chair and call someone names and critique their ever move, how would you like to have has many critics and bosses overlooking you everyday that JC has. No matter what time they arrive from a road game JC is at church the next day, he loves being a VOL, is it too much to ask that the fans support him next week against the Tigers and take some pressure off of him.

he didnt play too bad against ohio jeezus get off his back already.... it is people who call for players heads that really make me mad
1. Playing QB is VERY VERY difficult take it from someone who has played the position
2. If I was Crompton it would be hard to even continue to practice after last year. He has taken a beating, verbally and physically
3. Obviously Crompton is better than Stephens. Kiffin took our most expierenced player (Mcneil) and gave the job to a former walk on because he beat him out. I trust Kiffin to play the best players
So give him a break. I know he is not a very good QB, but its not easy and if you think you could do better go try out. But seriously, GET OFF HIS BACK!!!!!!!
Well said. As much as we've hated Crompton in the moments of his miscues and what not, you have to admire his courage. He might not be the brightest QB, best decision maker, or even the best at talking to the media but he keeps pushing through and that shows character. Time will heal all of the bad feelings towards him and we will remember him as a guy who waited his turn, gave his all for Tennessee, and never complained despite difficult coaching changes throughout his career. A lot of guys rated as high as him coming out of high school would have quit or made a scene after all the criticism by now, but he hasn't. He might believe he is better than he is but at thats not always a bad thing, at least he keeps working and isn't a douchey egomaniac.
I am sick and freaking tired of seeing Lane Kiffin not pull Crompton during a game, well hello, we were playing Ohio last night, the score should have been somewhere, oh I don't know, maybe along the lines of 60-3 or so. Now I am not putting all my blame on Crompton, the kickoff team had a miscue, well really that's about it, so yes, pretty much all the blame is on Crompton but really, actually Kiffin. This crap has gone way too far, Kiffin needs to grow a pair and sit down with Crompton and tell him, look kid, your just not qb material, let Crompton play a little TE or a little WR just a decoy or something, he is not college football qb material, nor has he ever been, it's time to live on the wild side Kiffin, I know it sounds extreme but damnit, start mixing this crap up, put in Stephens, and also run the Wildcat offense like last night with either Gerald Jones Qb'ing or Eric Berry.
Enough is enough, and Kiffin better grow a pair and I mean quick or more fans are going to start calling for his head, in fact some already are. I mean I don't know, did Crompton's dad give the University trillions of dollars, where nothing can be done here? Because obviously, it just nobody has the balls to say otherwise, well Kiffin better wisen up or Auburn will come into Knoxville, pick off Crapton several times, and win big.
