MANY times in my life I've realized that I wasn't the person for a certain job and asked to have someone more suitable to replace me. There is honor in it AND it shows the kind of perception that gets rewarded in the long run. I have no idea how old you are, but your life experience may not have yet put you in this spot. If you are sharp and good at whatever field you are in or will be in, IT WILL HAPPEN. That's life. Some folks never see it and are hamstrung by the blindspot. Others increase their stature by "calling the ball"no...no they wouldnt.
I dont know of any player who'd say "coach bench me" in the middle of a game
....that's actually the kind of thing that a coach could choose to cut a player for more than anything
I feel sorry for the rest of the players. It would be interesting to know what they think of Crompton and his ability to almost single handily destroy the Vols. But you know they will never speak out for fear of Kiffin reprisals.
It couldn't have been much of a dream come true, given that he quit. Crompton had the same opportunity to transfer after riding the pine for three years minus two games, but he didn't quit unlike The Quitter.
Nothing The Quitter ever does at UTC will ever change my opinion that he was our 3rd best QB. I don't even care if The Quitter leads them to a National Title (won't happen, just throwing it out there).
