The eternal QB debate (merged)

After two years of his dismal play, I had to read this post even though I knew it would be brutal at times. I am glad I did because you guys (and ladies if you are here), are hilarious and sometimes even insightful. My thoughts are varied on Crompton. He made us confident that he would do well after Ainge left with the LSU game and then that player totally disappeared! We all get to analyse and criticise him but he has been resilient to the abuse. If only he had the mental QB skills to be resilient on the field, we would all be happy.

Did anybody think after the LSU game that he would or could turn out like this? I doubt it. So somewhere along the way, things went terribly off course for him. We have to suffer through the rest of the season with him barring injury so accept it and wait til LK gets his own man. Bryce Petty would have been a better alternative IMO even with Freshman mistakes, but . . . . .

crompton sucks, he is an embarassment to tenn football. supposedly he is a great practice player, but if it doesnt transfer over into games, lets put stephens in and see what happens....cant get any worse.

You know this how?

so THIS is the official one? oooh okay, I thought it was one of the other 48 threads about laying off of Crompton.

MERGE/DELETE

no...no they wouldnt.

I dont know of any player who'd say "coach bench me" in the middle of a game

....that's actually the kind of thing that a coach could choose to cut a player for more than anything
MANY times in my life I've realized that I wasn't the person for a certain job and asked to have someone more suitable to replace me. There is honor in it AND it shows the kind of perception that gets rewarded in the long run. I have no idea how old you are, but your life experience may not have yet put you in this spot. If you are sharp and good at whatever field you are in or will be in, IT WILL HAPPEN. That's life. Some folks never see it and are hamstrung by the blindspot. Others increase their stature by "calling the ball"

how can you know that the receivers are a problem? i havent seen very many opportunities to perform

Did you watch the game last night? I remember the WRs dropping at least 4 catchable passes. One of them led to the INT.

He hasn't played well on the road or at home, it isn't the fans fault. He accepted a scholarship to one of the premier programs in the country and if he can't put on the big boy pants and play, it is ludicrous to blame the fans. I am not suggesting that Stephens play, just that the fans aren't Crompton's problem. Until he started crapping all over the field last year the fans were prepared to support him, same as this year. Read the board after the WKU game for all the proof you need.

I really wish he acted like a douche like Tebow so I could feel better about not liking him. I'm behind whoever mans this team 100% of course but thats not to say I don't wish anyone else could play

Would anyone else be happy trading for Ohio's quarterback? I'd rather have him, but we can't. Take Crompton for the rest of the season and be happy that he's gone. Kiffin will have his own quarterback next year. I personally think the offense will be completely different once Kiffin gets his own players in here, not Fulmer's. But until then quit you're whining, you're giving UT fans a bad name. :p

I feel sorry for the rest of the players. It would be interesting to know what they think of Crompton and his ability to almost single handily destroy the Vols. But you know they will never speak out for fear of Kiffin reprisals.

i dont care if he is a 5th yr senior, he DEFINITELY was the one who went the wrong way on the handoff. the entire O line blocked left

The truth is Crompton is terrible, bottom line. I will say I admire him, though. Doesn't change the fact that there are fans that expect greatness, so Crompton gets bashed. We bashed Fulmer, Sanders, Clausen, Ainge, Chavis, etc. for poor performance. JC isn't different, he's getting bashed Just get over it, don't read the post if you don't like it

Your right, it seems like they quit after the UCLA game. Need to start looking for another coach.

It couldn't have been much of a dream come true, given that he quit. Crompton had the same opportunity to transfer after riding the pine for three years minus two games, but he didn't quit unlike The Quitter.

Nothing The Quitter ever does at UTC will ever change my opinion that he was our 3rd best QB. I don't even care if The Quitter leads them to a National Title (won't happen, just throwing it out there).

Amen brother.
