The eternal QB debate (merged)

No. What/Who are you referring to? Those who attack a kid "personally" because they don't like the way he plays?

I dont know how saying crompton sucks is attacking him personally. I think the people who say this, myself included, are saying his performance sucks, not every aspect of his life.

I don't know about the rest of the game but I watched the highlight of JC's INT and that's a play that #6 just has to make. Immediately after Ohio's WR made a more difficult catch against a better secondary. Sorry to those of you who just want to blame JC but an SEC WR makes that catch.

Alot more people than you think don't draw that line. I personally appreciate it when people write what they mean. If you mean his play "sucks" then say it. When you make a general statement that "he sucks"... it means something different.

When and if JC is replaced by NS I will be just as supportive of that decision.

CLK was left with a thin but talented D. He was left with an O that has gaping holes in it and barely enough OL's to field an 8 man team. I said it before this game and will say it again. Crompton may well be a complete loss... but blaming him alone won't make UT's receivers any better.

Why would you throw to BB as a feature? Maybe because you are desperately looking for someone who can actually get open.

I read someone who said Crompton threw into double coverage on the pick. They need to watch that play again. He was throwing into a seam in a zone coverage and it WAS a catchable ball for an SEC caliber receiver.

I hate being in the position of defending the guy because he really has made some boneheaded mistakes... but he's not alone. Replacing him would hardly fix all the problems this team has on O.

I think UT can probably beat Aub if he just does what he did against UF. He probably has to do a little more against UGA.

Nothing more than a play on words. People say this so that they don't come across as a disgruntled, bitter fan whose overall mood on Saturday's is determined by a bunch of 18-22 year olds....I just want to know what benefit you, or anyone else, gets by saying that ANY part of a 22 year old's life sucks? Why say it? Does it make you feel better? Does UT's record have that big of an impact on your overall happiness and define your life that much that it rests on the playing ability of a 22 year old Quarterback that we know received death threats last year? A quarterback that has never faced any disciplinary actions, which is more than we can say about many of our Starters right now but our priorities are such that we look past that so long as they help us win.

I end by saying that you don't need to caveat your posts that you are only saying Crompton sucks at the football aspect of his life, b/c even if that is the case it is still pathetic. I recommend you enjoy watching the Vols not just b/c you want them to win (which we all do) but b/c these are players that chose our University and our State over all the other programs in the U.S.

for some people football is all they have. Sad but true.

riiiight..so tell me again why its ok for you to call me pathetic and NOT ok for me to say crompton sucks? Hypocritical much?

You are a man of reason, SJT. Good post. :good!:

Doubtful, he's gonna have to make a few more plays for the VOLS to win SEC games, he certainly doesn't have to win games by himself but no team is going to win in this conference without some key plays being made from the QB position. Right now the staff is trying to manage the games around JC instead of with JC, that can help keep you in games but very rarely help you win them.

Not going to get into it with you and don't want to hijack this board with our personal differences.. If you don't see the distinction now then I don't think there is anything I can say that could make it any clearer.... There are too many important issues going on in the world today and I believe it is an injustice to clump UT's QB situation as being on the same level as those much more serious issues. Just think we all could use our time a little more wisely than bashing 22 year old kids, that's all....
